Does anyone make a quiet/performance exhaust?

I'm trying to get max performance but I would like to keep my car as quiet as I can... I like being able to rip round without turning everybody's head like my SRT-4 Neon does.

literally 4 threads down is your answer....

Actually its not.... That's why I started my own thread!
4 threads down is some Polish guy asking about a car he hasn't even bought yet.
3 threads down is a guy talking about how his exhaust is quiet at idle and quiet while cruising, but then he also said that his car roars when he punches the throttle!
If you read my post.... I don't want my car to roar when I have the boost gauge pegged! I want my car to stay quiet at all times. I like being able to get around traffic or take off without bringing any attention to myself.

Soo... is there anybody who makes a "performance" exhaust that stays quiet??

What are your mods? If you go anything past a simple stage 1 tune you will need a more free flowing exhaust, and they will all be less restrictive and much louder. if you want quiet keep it stock and change the tips if you want to change the look.

I don't have any mods besides and new intake on the turbo. I don't want to do anything that will void my warranty.
Sometime in the near future I would like to get new intercooler piping with a ssq BOV. What HP is our factory FMIC rated for?
Does anybody make an underdrive crank pulley? I was also thinking about getting a race downpipe and cat-delete but leaving the stock muffler... is that possible/worth it? Do you think the stock muffler can keep it quiet wit no other restrictions?
Is there a way I can give my computer a tune but yet be able to change it back to stock if it has to go back to the dealership?

You will need to pick up a spare ECU. If you look around carefully, you can pick up a used one for not too mucn $$$$ that will match your coupe. That way you can swap them out if need be ;)

Seems like I saw a thread by someone that packed their tailpipes with steel wool to kill the sound from their pipes so they wouldn't get a ticket. It's around here somewhere.

I had to go with custom exhaust to get this. Its still louder than stock, but considering it is 3" catless piping from the turbo back it is pretty quiet.

ARK Grip is pretty quiet. It isn't 3 inch piping, but depending on what your goal are for mods it is probably adequate.

When you start talking about removing cat's you are going to get quite a bit more noise, probably even with the stock muffler. I am catless with two 18" body magnaflow mufflers and an 18" magnaflow resonator and mine is noticeably louder than stock. I don't get drone or any rasp, but it is louder.

Underdrive pulley is probably not worth it. It isn't a very common mod done to these cars, and there are way better places to spend your money for results you will actually notice.

I just figured that an underdrive pulley is cheap, easy to put on and will give me a little more pep.. maybe with some of the turbo lag.
What do you think that same money would be better spent on?

Hey boss, if you want something quiet, I can only say don't buy the CP-E quad.

This thing is way too loud for the pitiful power that my 2.0 A/T makes lol.

I have one.

Dynomax VT muffler used in my custom exhaust set up.

I need to write a review on it, but I really love it! Had it for maybe 2 months now.

If youre not familiar with it, it has a valve inside that is controlled through the exhaust pressure. At low pressure the valve stays closed and is like a normal muffler where the sound waves need to travel through the fiberglass packing. When the exhaust pressure is enough, it will open up and become a straight through muffler bypassing all the fiberglass. No switch to control it, and you never need to forget to turn it on or off.

Its just as quiet as stock, but when you step on it it screams. It is loud enough to make car alarms go off in an underground lot, but when I am cruising or idling it is not too noticeable. Zero drone inside. and guests can conversate just fine. I can be as loud or as quiet as I choose to be, based on my driving.

As far as my reasons for getting it?
I wanted performance as much as anyone else here, but as a school teacher, I do not want to attract too much attention to myself at school, or unwanted attention from law enforcement. I also did not want to deal with having an obnoxiously loud car everywhere I go.

That sounds like a pretty clever muffler. My only issue is that I don't want to attract any attention to my car when I'm at FULL BOOST! If I'm idling or just cruising around, I don't attract much attention to begin with, so that's not what I'm really worried about. Everybody looks around when they hear an exhaust start screaming tho. I want to remain under the radar as much as possible, especially while boosting.

Check out the Tsudo downpipe+catback. it's more like deeper bass type in boost if you're looking for that way.
