Don't use armor all. It was actually banned from our auto body class in high school. Apparently it ****s your paint up. We weren't allowed to use any armor all product or we had to pay for the air filters in the shop to be cleaned/replaced
I purchased this stuff a few weeks ago. It's the first Meguiars' product I was disappointed with the results.
It gives a clean look after the application. But not shiny like I wanted.
Give CHEMICAL GUYS BLACK ON BLACK a look. It's an aerosol solvent that's easy to apply and will last through rain and washing. Provides a nice soft gloss.
It's always worked well for me. And I've used it on some of my cars for years. Everyone has their own preference. And the banning of the product could be due to user preference or a personal boycott.
Mother's Back to Black wrks quite well, make sure you wash the areas first and then apply it to the grille and other areas, then use a microfiber towel to it. repeat the process until you are happy with the results.
Best bet, just tape off everything and paint it gloss black with a lot of clear. You won't have to worry about reapplying anything to keep it looking fresh and it will look better in my opinion. I did it to my rear diffuser/valence/whatever and I love it.
I've been looking into doing this ever since I saw my buddy's BRZ which has a painted diffuser. Did you use any specific gloss black or do any sort of sanding? The plastic seems rough enough as it is to grab the paint.
CG black on black spray works great on another note: i need one of these 22nd century flying regals from your sig 2015Genesis5.0 lol 2102 Buick Regal GS
Never thought about making these parts shiny. I've always just washed the car and dried the area and let it be. I actually have some black magic so will probably use that. and YES. black magic does smell good. lol
Pledge is waxed based so I wouldn't use that on plastic, vinyl or rubber. Pledge is meant for non textured low porous surfaces. Black Magic is silicone based which makes it very glossy and lasts forever. Some people say silicone based dressings can cause cracking over time but I've never had that happen and I've used silicone based dressings for a long time. Armor all ( the white liquid ) is water based which makes it completely safe on anything but it doesn't last worth a sh*t.
PS: Yes Black Magic is the best smelling! and longest lasting dressing I've come across.
I use Meguiar's Supreme Shine for the grill, rear diffuser and the interior. It is silicone based, has a shiny finish and last thru a few rain showers. I use Black Magic for the tires.
Thanks! I used Duplicolor autobody primer/paint/clear. I cleaned the plastic with a degreaser and alcohol, primered it quite a bit, sanded it smooth, primed again, sanded again, (repeat until satisfied with surface), then black, black, black, etc sanded it between a few coats, more black, then finally LOTS of clear.
Lasts for 2-3 weeks on tires and I've been using it on my interior/rubber/plastic pieces on my cars for a few years now and I absolutely love it! A little on the pricey side but it's amazing!
