I know a few of your were looking for instructions on how to do this so here it is. The first step i've included(removing ram air) is not needed unless you want to premanently remove the ram air. Removing the ram air will get you even more turbo noise but you will be sucking in warmer engine bay air leading to lower performance. Taking the silencer(s) out will yield a bit more turbo/intake sound.

Tools needed:
Philips Screwdriver
10mm Wrench
Pliers

Remove ram air. As stated, you do not have to do this unless you want to keep it off.

Remove top portion of OEM airbox.

Remove breather lines.

Annoying up-side-down hose clamp. It is easier just to take off the hose clamps on the other end(previous picture) than to try and fuss around with getting the left clamp off. Of course its not to hard to get this off, just annoying so i bypassed it for the directions.

Loosen the 2 hose clamps that attach the 2 piece inlet hose to the intake silencer.

Intake silencer that we are taking out. Take it out.

You will need a 2 3/4" ID pipe that is about 2 1/2" long. Try to get a pipe as close to 3" OD as possible.

Insert new pipe into 2nd piece of turbo inlet hose.

While we are in here, might as well take the 2nd 'mini-silencer' out. It forgot to get a pic of what it looks like after you flip the mini-silencer over and stuff it back in.

I have a vid coming here shortly of the engine rev'ing...you can definitely hear the induction sound more prominently than before. I'm guessing you'll pick up a little power as well since you do not have this smaller ID restrictor pipe messing up with flow.

I hope this helps!

Justin

I purchased the 3" OD x 2.87" ID x .065 wall 2.5" long. They get you on shipping. The tube was only $1.53 and the shipping was $15.18. Total was $16.71. Not the greatest deal but one I was willing to accept. I think I should have ordered the smaller one after reading all the post.
The other one is 2 3/4" OD x 2.5" ID x .125 wall. At this point I will make the 3" OD fit one way or another.

I did get one from Bad Boy Bill that he posted made out of PVC and it is really nice. I ordered the aluminium one for a back up. Bad Boy Bills looks like he put it on a lathe to make it the exact size and is really bad ass.

BBB silencer

We got misdirected at work and did the silencer delete there. I did not have a camera so I will take pics of the delete when my K&N gets here. I can be very honest that I do not hear all the great sounds coming from the motor from doing the delete. Maybe I should have the delearship check and see if my turbo is working.:dunno:

I have noticed better throttle response and the boost feels more solid though the RPMs. Other than that had fun doing it.

Thanks again BadBoyBill:bowdown:

don't worry, I didn't notice ANY difference in sound either.. until putting a cone filter / aftermarket intake in. That's when it comes to life :)

I used a 3in piece of exhause pipe from autozone and it was the biggest pain in the ass. You can literally put the whole silencer inside the replacement pipe. It took like 3 hours to do, we had to lube it up with motor oil to get it in the turbo inlet tube, then had to get a knife and shave down the inside of the intake tube's lip to get it to go on. Do not use 3in pipe

I got mine to work with out any modifications

i stopped at Mufflerman and got a piece of 3" stainless steel from them, polished the edges and inside with a dremmel and then put it in. The car was still a little warm (warm engine but not hot... could put my hands on it) and it fit with little force and wiggling...

i didnt notice much of a difference... i did the waste gate too and i cant say its any different from the rest of the time... oh well...

I was in the Dollarama store today, thought I might find something of use. I found an Aluminum Water Bottle that was 2 7/8" outside diameter. I cut it it to 2.5" and cleaned up the edges and it fits perfect. Comes in different colors in case you want to color coordinate with your car, although only you will know its color. Cost 2 whole dollars.

I did this mod today...minus removing the silencer. I still have that nice BOV sound and overall didnt cost me more then $30! Yea...If you want the BOV sound without spending the price...do this mod.

how big of a piece of pvc do i need to put there to conect them ?

You might think so but if there is, probably only like a whole 1/4 hp. You already did most of the power upgrade on the intake when you upgraded to a cone(people will argue that it actually hurts performance) the next step is a real intake which will gain you a few hp and tq. After that, it's onto the fmic kit.

10 or 15 hp from stock so with a filter already on you might gain just over 8 or 10 hp/tq but that's still in the margin of error on a dyno so you wouldn't know for sure unless you did a good number of dyno runs stock and modified. I can say I felt a noticeable power increase when I went to an intake after having a cone and silencer delete, but after about an hour of driving I didn't notice any extra power. I was also running about 16 psi. The sound quality is worth every penny IMHO. The stock intake with cone and delete sounds like garbage compared to a real intake.
