I like the functionality and display of the base stereo and would like to keep it. However, I do not like the sound. So I will be replacing the speakers (Alpine SPS-610C - front; Alpine SPS-610 - rear). I would also like to be able to use the full (maybe not full) power of the Alpine speakers. To that end, I was thinking about purchasing Clarion XC1410 amp and wire it to the head unit using speaker input (high level) without cutting OE speaker harnesses. That said, does anyone have a wire diagram of the base stereo? If no diagram a picture will work. Hoping it is the same as the first gen (separate harness for speakers).
FYI - my thought is to mount the clarion amp in the space for the center channel (top of dash).
I am thinking about doing something similar - and wanted to make sure I did not have to cut any factory wires. I have a 2013 3.8 RSPEC. Search on ebay for a reverse harness for the Genesis Coupe. This is basically a harness/plugs that will plug into the back of the OEM radio. You then pair that with an aftermarket head unit wiring harness for our car. You can then solder the wires (and run your speaker wires to an LOC) of those together and they will connect in between the OEM radio and your OEM harness. So if you ever want to return stock, you just take those two purchased wiring harness' out and reconnect your OEM harness back into the factory radio...and nothing is cut or spliced. Hope that makes sense.
Still looking for the 2013 wiring harness diagram as well....
I did not find a GC 2013 wiring harness diagram. However, I did find an 2013 Elantra (Base stereo) diagram. Have not pulled the head unit but I am betting they use the same harness. Here is the diagram for the Elantra
I did purchase two harnesses by Metra. 70-7304 appears it will plug into Connection A (Elantra image). 71-7304 is the other harness which should plug right into OE harness. In addition to the 8 speaker wires, harness 70-7304 has an orange and blue wires (Orange = illumination; Blue = Power Antenna). I will probably connect the blues anyway.
I'll pull the head unit this weekend and update my findings.
Cool...same harnesses I ordered - the Metra 70-7304 and 71-7304. I won't have a chance to install it for a while though as I am out of the country for another month.
Got a question about wiring up an amp to the RSPEC/base oem stereo. Looking at the diagram above, can the REMOTE ANTENNA wire be used as the remote signal to turn on the amp? I know some newer cars allow the REMOTE ANTENNA wire to only provide power when the radio is playing FM/AM and actively using the antenna (ie that wire will lose power if you switch to CD and my amp will shut-off), while others provide the 12v power as long as the stereo is on. Can anyone who has done that confirm it it works in our situation? Not a big deal, but that way I can avoid running the amp remote line into the fuse box and just tap the radio harness. Thanks!
Do you happen to have a wiring diagram for the blue lcd screen in the bk2 models? More specifically if looking to see if there is an accessory voltage going to it and what the voltage/amperage might be.
Thank You for this diagram ! I really needed to have this.
