LAP3 End-User Tuning Solution via OBD-II

Hello guys,

It's been awhile since we've given an update on the original thread for the LAP3 handheld tuner that we have been working on. Many people have doubts about what we are capable of, and we'd like to provide a few updates.

You can find the original post from the link down below.

http://www.gencoupe.com/2-0t-discussion-2013-up/451618-lap3-pross-handheld-tuner.html

The reason why we are making a post on this particular section is because we are no longer just working on the 2.0T platform. We have added the BK1&2 3.8 in this project as well. If the previous post can be merged, please do so.

We didn't get to start this project until April as we were still working on the Sonata/Optima 2.0T-GDI platform. It's been about 2-3 months since we have been working on this end-user tuning software for the genesis coupe platform.

LAP3 is here to take this platform to a whole new level. We are finalizing the BK1 2.0T and we have already begun the work on the BK2 2.0T, BK1 3.8, and BK2 3.8 platforms as well. Hopefully, we will soon have this project finished. Stand by to be rocked!

With LAP3 Tuning Solution, you will be able to
1. Data Logging
2. Data Editing
3. Data Re-flashing through LAP3 Uncle Boost module.

Here's a few photos >:D

We would like to see how many people would be interested in getting this ultimate tuning solution for their genesis coupe.
Please comment and share!

Is this something a local tuner uses on a dyno?

Or is it pre-mapped so an end user can plug in and use?

Or is it a system where I send you the data logs and you send back the reflashed programming?

Also... can I use it to set which traction control mode to use when I start my car?

Can it change the sensitivity of the auto headlights?

Thanks,
Carl

Sounds like its a module that lets you datalog values, edit tunes, pull/flash them back on the ecu. So itll be a module and a connector that plugs into your lappy so you can datalog with their program, and use that data to change values and reflash pcm tune, meaning itll all be end-user.

Having used ECMlink on DSM's for years, this is the exact thing this platform needs. No more relying on two outfits for canned tunes or waiting for them to do a local tuning session anytime you want to add/remove parts. Hopefully too youll see like the subie guys where people upload tunes they have used for various setups for the world to use or modify at their own discretion.

Also like you, im hoping theres a bunch of settings you can change. Personally, id like to disable TCS/SCS on keystart automatically. Id also like to disable some of the wastegate and bov "safeguards" to make the car more fun to drive. Lastly, getting rid of throttle scaling while retaining cruise would be awesome.

I would pay $600 for this level of end-user capability.

Interested for BK2 3.8. Already have SFR canned tune, so would like to see this as a viable replacement.

Do you have any time-frame for release yet?

Definite BK2 3.8 interest

What he said lol. Not having to push and hold the TCS button every time I get in would be worth it alone.

Jlong just so you know, just because they dont offer remote tuning (IE you do a log, send them a file, they send you back a revised tune, and repeat) doesnt mean other outfits wont in the future, or even better, other users taking the time to review your logs and make recommendations (IE how they do it on ECMlink for DSMs, you post up a log, people critique it and tell you what you should change, etc).

Example, for Mustangs, there are outfits like Livernois Motorsports and Amazon Racing that send you a handheld tuner (ie SCT or Diablow) with their preliminary canned tune; you install the tune, datalog and send them the log, they review and send you back a revised tune, and repeat as necessary. That's pretty much all they do, they dont produce the apparatus or make the software. I suspect outfits like SFR/BTR will eventually turn into something like this.

I seriously cant wait for this to happen to this platform. Finally we can see more cars putting down better numbers and the potential to tune yourself in the hands of the people. Especially being able to reflash to stock on the fly for dealer/warranty work and such without having to spend extra on a spare ecu.

Oh I know for a fact others will. I asked bcuz in Korea THEY tune hyundai/KIA cars so was just wondering if they would since they already tune cars. I agree this has the potential to be big. Finally catch up to the nissans/chevy/ford/suby tuning availability. Where tuner shops can tune GC's as well in stead of what little we have now

Sorry, 2K would be way too steep for me. I hope they keep it reasonable for us working stiffs. What do other platform tuners go for? I am assuming some of the other more popular platforms have this available to them already.
