Hi guys :)

one of the members here gave me an idea to start making a new design for F/L front grill as M&S is the only one availabe, fitment might not be so great and outer part is realy flimsy, not enough meat.

I don't have any finalised ideas, sketches or photchops of this grill but my idea is to make outer part thicker and stronger, and center bridge smaller (narrower) but big enough for licence plate frame and with opening for tow hook.

I would like to hear some ideas, suggestions and maby get some photochop so we can visualise our ideas to get some felling as to how final product might look.

I don't have any estimate on the price of grill or mold yet as the guy who would make this (Fazer company hasn't got the time to check my email and he will be away for vacation until august 4th) but it should be similar to the price of of M&S grill.

This grill would not be classic fiberglass grill with smooth front side and rough back side but smooth from both sides, ensuring proper fit and finsih. Actualy two molds are made, one for front side and another for back side so material basicaly gets pressed inbetween. It could be made in fiberglass and carbon fiber.

So here is what you have stock:

And here is M&S grill:

Center part is just a copy of original, basicaly whole grill is OEM design without the blades, not much difference.
Let me hear some ideas on what you like and what you don't like, what would you want from your grill, what features etc.
Hope to get some interest so we could realy start making quality good looking and different front grill for a car that deserves it!
Thank you for you inputs guys :D

Put me on this list.

This sounds great as the only other option is the M&S one, which has quite a few bad reviews and that made me hesitant on making the purchase.

I think the M&S one looks good, it's just the reports of poor fitment and visible gaps from the side view that turns me off.

My design suggestions:

- allows us to keep the mounting for the hyundai badge. Maybe keep the top original half of the grill but remove the 3 awkward bars on the bottom. And add honeycomb pattern on both top and bottom
- larger honeycomb pattern than the current MS design, with increased honeycomb wall thickness, similar to luxury vehicle honeycomb grills.
- most importantly an OEM looking quality and fit and finish at all angles.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts.

For me personally, and I doubt this will be a popular opinion, but I'd like the top 1/2 to be stock (with whiskers) and bottom part with the mesh. Once I realized the head lights flow into the whiskers I liked them a lot more

Most important would be material quality and fitment. If this were plug and play direct replacement that didn't require modification I'd be much more likely to purchase.

Like someone else mentioned, I wouldn't want to get one for $200, then have to spend as much or more just to have it fitted to look OEM. That probably makes me sound cheap, but it's just the justification process. $400 to $500 for something that doesn't really bother me that much, compared to other things I could put that money towards.

Please for the love of God, make it in carbon fiber! I have the M&S grill and i hate to be honest but i had to put another $200 dollar into to it get to look show worthy. Thats like almost $500 into just a center grill piece. between the physical part, shipping and the "some work required" it was just too much. It was flimsy, and had stress cracks and the mesh wasn't even cut to the right size. so i vote good idea, make it carbon fiber, and shave off the toe hook hole. trust me people will pay the extra money for something that is hassle free and done right verses, buying something cheap and trying to make it work out. my two cents, hope it was helpful

Making the grill in carbon fiber is not a problem, same mold would be used for CF and FRP version.
Was it you wrapping M&S grill in carbon fiber or was it someone else? Or was it stock grill, don't remember exactly but I was reading about this here on the forum.

Tow hook hole can be prety useful in case your car needs to be towed but I agree that hole with small plug doesn't help it look good. Maby grill could be done the way it would be easy to remove in case you need to tow your car, whole grill removed. Or it could be made in two versions, with and without tow hook hole, I would need to ask about that.

For quality I can guarntee you it would be top-notch, stock out this one in, done. No extra work except painting for those who would order fiberglass version. When it comes to money I always have a felling people are cheaping out, they just want something for cheap and don't care about the quality much, or they want quality parts but don't wanna pay for that. Than they get some cheap stuff and realise it wasn't worth it, but it's already to late than.

Thank you for your input Klafranka, it was very helpful.

Jmacc -- would you be interested in my grill if fitment was good?

Let's put some feature of this grill on the list so we don't lose track.

1. OEM like fit
2. Carbon fiber and fiberglass version
3. Preferably without tow hook hole
4. Thicker and stronger outer part
5. Keep mounting for H or some other badge
6. Get rid of the lower two blades
7. Larger honeycomb mesh pattern with thicker walls
8. Smaller center bridge (preferably shaped to accept license plate frame)

How many of you guys have license plate in front? I see many cars without them.
Any other suggestions, ideas, opinions?

Thank you.

As the 1st person to have the M&S grille installed, I will tell you this:

1. The M&S grille does look good
2. The grille is too flimsy or weak
3. Double sided tape does NOTHING on the top cause the top part is not only flimsy but thin too, it shall had come wt metal clips that you could bend and secure to the bumper
4. The attention to detail was not included in the making of
5. Some fitted fitted kinda good, some didnt........this is totally unacceptable
6. Tow hook hole shall be removed, one can just remove the bumper if it ever needs towing.
7. I paid $290 for it, then paid $180 to have it skinned in CF. Then when I got rear ended and launched into the car in front of me, it got messed up. I hate the OEM grille so much that I bought another M&S grille that was not only used but broken too for $100. Now its in the hands of a buddy to have it skinned in CF...............again, for God knows how much more. Could have had a whole new bumper by now oh well.
8. The center piece or crash bar cover needs to be less protruding and smaller in size making it more flushed/even wt the bumper itself
9. Last but not least, instructions were not in paper but on a CD that was made in Korean to top it off.

:dunno:

You mean M&S grill is not in the same line as bumper? It sticks out? That isn't visible from frontal and side view images so I wasn't even aware.

Updated list:

1. OEM like fit
2. Carbon fiber and fiberglass version
3. Preferably without tow hook hole
4. Thicker and stronger outer part
5. Get rid of the lower two blades
6. Larger honeycomb mesh pattern with thicker walls
7. Smaller center bridge, less protruding (preferably shaped to accept license plate frame)

Maby center bridge could be made a bit bigger and outer part a bit thinner and less protruding. This would be good compromise.

O so it was you Hector, the one who wrapped this grill in CF :) Can you tell me where behind the center bridge is crush bar located? If you can mark it on the picture of M&S grill?
I would like center bridge of my grill to cover it.

Here is just something quick of what I imagined, waiting for my friend to do a photochop.
If someone can do some photochoping it wouldn't hurt either, more options, easier to decide which one looks better.

BTW your stuff is on the way :)

I think having the crash bar cover go in more such that it is less protruding, like hectorpr suggests is a good idea.

However I dont think making it thinner height-wise as shown in your photo shopped picture is esthetically more pleasing.

Tough to say this early without it seeing it in person of course, but I think having it that thin kinda makes it look flimsy and cheap.

Not sure.

I'm thinking not to make mounting point for H logo or any other badge anyway. If someone wants to have badge on the front he can put it on the hood. Majority of grills don't have mounting point for badges anyway.

I will have some photochop done soon so you guys can get an idea on how it will look. Stay tuned :)

Can you make it a reasonable price point? Lol.. I feel that the M&S one is ridiculously over priced.. You can basically make the same design with a $90 sheet of honey comb ABS eBay.. But if I can avoid the headache of trimming and fitting, I would be willing to go this route.

#24 ·
It can't cost less than M&S as it will be higher level of quality, we won't cheap out on molds and cut corners to reduce price and also quality, could cost a bit more actualy but at least you would know why you payed that much once you would get it on your car :)

Price is not yet known as we haven't got that far.

Getting rid of the tow hook hole will probably alienate a large amount of your consumer base because many US states require front license plates. Keeping the tow hook hole allows them to use a license plate kit so they don't have to drill into their nice new grill.

All of these states require front plates: Alaska, California, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming

Who needs to drill.. Zip ties FTW!:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Sign me up for some OEM-fitting, non-badge having grill goodness.

I am definitely interested in this as well. However I live in Texas and in Texas we require front license plates. please make a version that has the standard location for front mount license plates and not have to relocate the license plate to the side. I think having it on the side looks more silly then in the center.

Center bridge will be there so you can put your plate in the centre or on the side with Grimmspeed kit, your decision.

Offering it with mesh or without it is realy not a problem, there is many options.
We can offer it with plastic honeycomb mesh, aluminum mesh, different sizes of opening in mesh, no mesh at all...
