First one to get the long awaited Fazer grill installed. It's definitely not a 30min install like I originally thought, but it wasn't too bad. There are some useful things to know that would have greatly expedited the process, so here you go.

We start with a Genesis Coupe

Stock Grill Removal

First remove the bumper. There are numerous threads containing this information. Use that nifty search bar in the corner.

I placed the bumper on a large section of cardboard while I worked so that I didn't scratch up the fog lights or anything.

Here's a picture from 2013 DIY grill delete/cross member paint PICS! because it's a nicer view of the bumper than mine and it's already got circles!

So you need to remove all those screws that are circled in red, blue, and yellow. There are also 2 screws under the middle foam piece (the two outside green circles).

I removed the foam piece by taking some needle nose pliers and pulling off the 2 metal tabs (the two middle cgreen circles). Then the foam piece comes right off.

Once you get all the screws out, you can start taking out the old grill. Work top to bottom essentially.

You need to push out that little rubber strip that the hood shuts onto.

I just used needle nose pliers and pushed out the little pins along the entire strip.

Now you can take out the top hood latch section.

There are two tabs that are stubborn. They're both on the ends. Get the section past the tabs on both sides and the rest of it comes out easy peasy.

Now you can push out the top section of the actual grill. The part with the badging. This piece is a bit stubborn but it'll push straight out with some elbow grease.

Next you push out the bottom section. It's super easy compared to the top.

Then You can go to the other side of the bumper and pull off the center bar covering.

This leaves you with a bare grill

Fazer Grill Install

I was excited to open up my package and unwrap this

But of course you can't put the grill on with tape on it, so I go and take the tape off only for it to end up like this:

The thin layer or plastic or whatever on top of the tape came off and left all the adhesive still on the grill.
I just kind of sat there staring at it

Then I went and got my microfiber towel and some goo gone and sat there scrubbing it off for 15-20 minutes. It looked clean and passable. Then I realized that there was more tape on the top and bottom on the other side of the grill :mad2:

So after about half an hour or so of scrubbing and cleaning, I finally end up with

Take the 2 screws out of the grill

Then the grill just drops onto the front of the bumper. Fits perfectly
Just screw in the two screws into the brackets. You can use the ones that came with it, but I went ahead and reused the old ones from the stock grill. Doesn't really make a difference.

Then you can go ahead and start putting on the mesh.
The green circles are the spots that Fazer marked on the grills.

Personally, I think the washers that came with the grill could be a tiny bit bigger because it doesn't fit well between some parts of the mesh. So I scrounged around for a few extra/larger washers to use in certain spots. I also added some extra screws. There are some gaps in the mesh that line up with holes from the original grill, so I just reused the old screws and it worked just fine.

Next drop the hood latch section back on top of the grill and push the rubber strip pins back where they were. I also decided to drop the foam piece back in the middle because, why not?
If you do drop the foam back in, remember to push the metal tabs back on.

You end up with this:
Inside

Outside

Reinstall Bumper

Now put your bumper back on the car.
Don't forget to plug your fog lights back in, if you have them.

And now you have your finished product:

Absolutely love the look. Much much better than the stock. Had no issues with fitment, just that little incident with the tape.

Crappy phone pictures don't do it justice. Looks infinitely better in person. And even more so if my car was clean (yes, I know it's dirty. It has been rainy every weekend for the past 3 weeks or so)

Well worth the wait!

Great writeup! I apologize about the tape on the grill, didn't think it will stick to the grill so well. Should have used masking tape but didn't had any around so I just used this one. Some other guy had same problem.

CF grills had meshes already screwed on so there was no need to use tape to hold mesh inside the grill. Future customers will have no such problems. I thought I will need to make some supports to make box stronger ad for that mesh had to be removed. Turned out I don't need to do that as I made box stronger the other way, like pyramide.

Will you install relocation kit as you left hole opened?

It came off in the end. I just needed to be patient.
The box did take some abuse, but overall, it stayed intact very well.

Yes, I did go ahead and install the relocation kit.

I actually had to go and take the bumper off again to do so. I couldn't finish putting the bolt in with the bumper/grill on. The tow hook bolt ends up abutting right against the bottom right corner of the hole. There wasn't enough room for the socket and bolt.

Don't know how well you can see it here

I'm glad box did a good job protecting the grill. There is no option to put fragile sticker on it so I had to do all I could to make the box as strong as possible. Fit was tight so it didn't move. Was all the bubble wrap still on the grill when you got it? Or did customs removed it and just throw the grill inside the box without it?

I don't know how you did it. I was wrestling with it for like an hour and a half and could only get the bottom piece off :(. I was just disassembling it to paint. I'm dreading having to put it back together.

I plan on doing the fazer grill too, so I guess I'll just cut it out when I'm ready for that. The tabs make no sense to me. Some come right out, others don't.

Yeah, the top section of the grill is a huge PITA to get out. Only one side of the top section would come loose. Involved a lot of force and pulling to get it out for me.

Hey

Great DYI but all the pictures are missing

Here you go. This link should take you to the album with the pictures.

It's been too long, so I can't go back and edit the original post.

Thank you, this DYI will come in handy in 2-3 weeks when I get my grill.
