Hyundai Made a Sexy Car. What the Heck? Here’s How They Did It

Hyundai surprised the automotive world when it recently took the wraps off its unusually sexy Vision G Coupe Concept during the prestigious Monterey Car Week. A collective gasp and then some soul searching likely happened shortly afterwards, people surely contemplating what the world was coming to when the word 'sexy' could legitimately be used to describe a Hyundai.

Initial reactions to the concept were split on opposite ends of the spectrum. People either thought it was beautiful and should be put into production right away, or they hated it and thought it was just a copycat. Either way, Chris Chapman, Hyundai’s chief U.S. designer, welcomes the strong opinions.

'I welcome polarization and the hot and cold,' he said in a recent interview during Pebble Beach festivities. 'I’d rather have that than something lukewarm, which doesn’t make a statement.'

I could form a proper opinion for the car IF I knew where it would be properly positioned. As a replacement for the Genesis Coupe....eh No...doesn't do anything for me.... something farther up the luxury scale, sokay but will be the kind of car I like to see, with other people in it!

That's the way a premium sports car should be. Your average pizza delivery guy should not be able to afford it but should dream about owning it one day. If you price range for a car is between $25k-$35k it's not the car for you. The technology in it should trickle down to the base line cars.

Just what are u trying to say there bub? If I chose to spend 45k+ for a ride this would not make my short list, just as the sedan did not. Looks are first on the list followed by performance, ect. Just my personal opinion. And THIS pizza delivery driver would NOT be dreaming of this....

And now that I've seen the rest of the pictures, I'm overwhelmed by the size of the car (it's very chunky) and underwhelmed by the styling from the A-pillar to the rear bumper. Definitely not a proper GenCoupe replacement, and not sure if Hyundai is ready for the ultra-luxo arena.
