So if the top speed limiter cuts in at 150 mph on this 2010 3.8 stock...i am wondering with a cbe, sri, lighter pulleys and a re-flash would yield with the manual? 160 mph?

Not sure about the GCs.

My '06 Altima had a 142 mph limiter which could be reflashed for complete removal of the limiter. That said, I never did the reflash, but did check the limiter and my car did make the 142 limit in stock condition. The '02 Altimas came without a limiter, and a friend of mine hit 160 with his on the Autobahn in Germany! His car was bone stock!

I'd be willing to wager that our GCs can be reflashed for removal too. Guessing the 3.8 to be able to make at least 170!

I've hit 138 according to GPS in slightly modded 2005 350z. Wasn't even working hard. 147 in a bone stock 370. Nothing to it. And 139 according to GPS in my stock '14 3.8. Barely broke a sweat. It's aerodynamics anything above 155.

I don't think you want to go 160mph on this car, let alone a 2010. There is a point where it's probably drag limited.

...What do you mean by "let alone a 2010"? I was just curious about the top speed thing. I have been up hovering around the 150 mph mark a couple of times. Probaly a couple of times too many. 150 mph in a car is a little scary. On a bike.....the fun is just beginning.lol. The sweet spot where the car feels like its in its element is 100 mph imo.

At those speeds you should be watching to road, not the fuel needle

I've hit 130 racing the wife. That's plenty fast for me. I'm more into the twisties anyway. 130mph + twisites = deadsky.

I have had a Pensky moving truck fully loaded and towing my camaro at 120 by accident. I only noticed because the truck cut out and scared the sh*t out of me. The truck was smooth at 120 though :D

there's not enough differences in aero between 2010 vs. 2013 to call one significantly better than the other.

stock, both will start to lift and get unstable at high speeds. you don't solve that without lowering, installing a flat bottom skidplate under the entire length of the car and a functional diffuser in the rear. To my knowledge the 2013 has none of these.

Removing the limiter nets you maybe 10-20mph before drag exceeds acceleration capability. Never been that high, I don't see the appeal of beating the crap out of an engine in an overdrive gear.

I've driven both the BK1 and BK2 (stock) at high speeds. My conclusion from that experience was that the BK2 felt more planted at high speeds, while the BK1 was starting to scare me at the 100-110mph mark. Only reason I made the comment :)

You should be able to tick off 160 no problem.

I could hit 150-155 in my 2002 mustang GT stock (260hp, 5MT). Just took a REALLY long time once you hit 5th. Ive seen 165 in my Cobra before letting off, out of fear of melting pistons. Still was pulling nicely at that point. My days of having cars where the speedo moved at the same rate as the tach in 4th and 5th are over lol.

The fact they speed limit you to 150 should tell you theres more. If the car physically couldnt reach 150 or more they wouldnt need to limit it.

Also, make sure your tires are capable........

I'm sorry to hear that. It must have been a terrible experience. :(

I live in Germany and have the 2012 Track 3.8 6spd. I've driven this thing flat out in the few places where traffic and road conditions will let you. It's scary/nervous the first time and even the next few times. You sit quite low and it looks even faster than 150. The car doesn't feel solid. The stock suspension is already enough to make it briefly lift a rear tire when going around a curve at 120 mph (not a sharp curve, just a long autobahn curve that I should have taken at about 100 instead). The traction control light comes on and you lose power for a second. I've done a wheel chirp at 90 mph when hitting a pothole under throttle causing the traction control to come on. I had a 1995 BMW M5 with the limiter removed at 180 mph many times and never felt as nervous as I do with the Gen. When I get in the curvy section between Ramstein and Baumholder, I take the curves slower than the people in the Passats and Skodas because the ruts in the road make the car squirrely and sometimes I feel that it's not going to stay in my lane.
My tires are good. The alignment is good. The suspension isn't broke or worn out. I just don't believe the car is really made for high speed driving.

My 2 cents
Dan

i would be too scared to go even past that hahah

These cars , especially stock suspension, are not very safe above 130/140 imo. Just feel very loose.

I have hit the 160mph mark a time or 2 in my current car, but it was much more stable and was only in 5th at 160mph. Still had another gear to go, but ran out of road. At those speeds, every slight movement is a possibility for disaster.

it's the combination the koreans used:
Soft springs + Tight dampers + Soft Bushings

If you want stability you go German style
Hard Springs + Soft Dampers + Hard Bushings

Sure your back snaps over every pothole in a BMW, but damn it feels nice at high speed.... nothing is wiggling around like the gelatin parts Hyundai puts in.

edit: LOL Maxima.... VQ+CVT = Beehive of angry wasps hitting 160mph in 3 minutes

Have had plans for Bilstein struts and shocks, but the way I drive and the pre planned routs has kept the stock ones going. When and if they go bad on me then it will be the Bs going on. For some the Eibach springs is a bad choice, But for me it is what I have know all these years. I am afraid of coil overs since I can get so darn picky and would be constantly playing with fine tuning the adjustments I avoid them. As far as my Sportlines are concerned, yes they can be a bit brutal in some ways. But for making sharp turns they have kept my car flat. As for the roads I drive there is some humps that lift the car and the SL springs on stuck struts is not as road hugging as I would like at high speed. I will ride the stock struts till they blow and keep my speeds down in the mean time.
