I have warm air coming out of vents even though its set all the way to cold. its not just warm its a bit hot but not as hot as a full on heater would do. Still on summer days it gets pretty hot inside the car.
I have tried using re circulation it minimizes it a bit but still there is a warm air coming through.
im sure its not normal as it is a bit unusally hot. Alot of other people have sat in my car and told me why is it so warm in here
I cant figure out why is this happening?
A/C works fine when set. But i cant have A/c on alll the time.
I know what you are talking about. I prefer to drive with the windows down instead of AC and it doesn't help when hotter-than-ambient air is blowing through the vents even though you set the temperature low enough. It almost seems as if it's not working properly and heat is turned on even when you set the temp low enough. It happens quite often but not all the time. It feels like there's a glitch in the software somewhere or air from the outside is hangs around in the engine bay a bit too long before making its way into the cabin. Your footwells get really hot and the only way around that is to have a little bit of that hot air blow through there for the sake of airflow. I can't speak for recirculate because I have an irrational fear of non-fresh air so I avoid it like the plague unless I'm driving through a smoke screen.
I've noticed a few software glitches in this car ranging from lighting, heater, a/c, instrument cluster, gauges, and engine behavior.
Here's an example of just sloppy user interface. -17C outside, but some genius at Hyundai decided it was better to show -1...C. Meanwhile, in the media screen, it shows the temperature perfectly fine in a smaller space.
I have found that my blend door does not always shut off the heat completely and just turning the knob to full heat for a second then back to full cold seems to a aleviate the problem.
As mentioned above probably a software glitch.
+1 to this. Mine does the same.... Auto climate off, temp set to min, no A/C, press "OFF" and sometimes there's still hot air coming thru the vents... turn fan on low, quick turn of the knob back and forth, then press off again stops it most of the time. Switching to defog mode and then shutting everything off works really well too.
Hot coolant is always moving thru the heater core, and forward motion puts positive pressure under the hood = warm bypass air making it's way into the cabin, especially if you have the sunroof or windows cracked as that reduces cabin pressure and helps pull the air in from the vents.
is it possible that my vents? or something is stuck open and letting the warm air from engine back pass through? How much would it cost if i want my mechanic to have it looked at appoximately? does the whole dashboard need to come off for that
im not nitpicking but the even very little hot air becomes alot when im driving for about 50+ kms. i start sweating like hellll.
Annoying to see that a premium car like this could have problems such as these
I have the same issue. You can have the entire ventilation system turned to off and feel hot air coming in through the floor vents right above your feet. It bothers me a bit, but I normally just blip the climate knob back and forth a few times until it stops. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
mine throws hot air from floor only if i have it selected to that. If i select air to come out from dashboard vents it will throw hot air from there.
i realize that i may have to pay someone few hundred bucks to take out the whole dash and have it looked at. I cant stand the heat on hot days. Just really pissed off feel like something un called for i have to pay for.
There is a chance that something has managed to get into the hvac case ( vegetation or some such) and wedged the heater core(blend) door open Or the door actuator is malfunctioning.
I have not looked into the coupe but most vehicles these days require the dash to be removed to repair, but not always... have to look into it, can't get into my computer at work as it is down.
I don't quite understand this. If it's hot outside and it's hot inside the car, then why aren't you using air conditioning to cool it down? Are you concerned about it using extra gasoline? New car systems have little affect on gas mileage. Are you allergic to air conditioning? I just can't understand why someone wouldn't be using a/c if it's hot inside the car.
And yeah - the black interiors in this car keep it very warm inside, even if the outside temps are only around the mid-70s. These cars suck up heat a lot, particularly on a sunny day.
I understand alot of people telling me to just use A/C. However using A/c when its just 20C outside is i think not necessary. Even when its 20 outside i am getting heat from vents like have heating TURNED on LOW.
i prefer to have my windows down for air flow rather than A/c. Not because i want to cheap out gas but just my preference
I think i forgot to mention one important thing that i started noticing this heat issue for past couple days. Wasnt there before.
Do you have a manual or auto climate control? The blend door operator looks easy to get to. It on the side of the heater box looking to the left after taking the glove box out.
To really know if the blend door or Mode Control Actuator as Hyundai calls it is the issue it can be tested by the dealer with their scan tools.
Can you get a thermometer and stick it in the vent to see just how hot the air is compared to the ambient? The little dial pocket thermometers are all that expensive and easily found.
The only thing that might malfunction and cause such an issue as others have stated is the blend door not blocking the heater core compleatly when set to cold. If with the car warmed up and running you can detect a diffrence when turning the temp control from full hot to full cold the blend door is proably working. That said the coupe like most cars has a hot engine in front and exhaust running underneth, its a realitavly small car with mabey not the best sound deadening/heat dispersing insulation, the outside air is going to get heated up slightly on its path through the duct work and into the cabin without the benifit of using A/C. Personaly my A/C almost never gets turned off compleatly in any of my vehicles for this exact reason.
It's just normal for the Gen Coupe. It has ~190F coolant circulating in the heater core all the time so that's a big source of heat. Plus the black plastic. Not much more you can do .
If you are really set on cooler temps with no AC you could take the heater core hoses off and connect them together bypassing the heater core.
There does have to be flow though so you can't plug the hoses.
I live just north of Boston, at about the same latitude as Toronto (been there over a dozen times and love the city). I was out yesterday with the a/c on, but as I was heading home the outside temp was about 75 (about 24 Celsius) and the sun was shining, so I opened the windows and shut off the a/c. That lasted about two or three minutes before I closed the windows and turned the a/c back on. Between the engine heat being sucked into the cabin, the black interior and the exhaust running under the car this car gets really hot inside very quickly.
What azi90 is experiencing is normal for the car. My last car was dark gray with black leather interior, and it was just the same.
Yeah, the HVAC in the GC is definitely bugged. I hate that when I turn the FAN on, it turns the A/C on with it (A/C light is off). I then have to turn the A/C ON, then OFF, THEN it runs just the fan w/o the A/C.
Another stupid glitch, or two, I've found is with car locked, pressing key fob unlock does not unlock passenger door. you have to press the button on door knob to unlock door. Also, if you did use the key fob to unlock doors then open driver side door, you cannot unlock the passenger door from outside UNLESS the driver side door is closed.

Why can't you have the A/C on all the time? Do you have the automatic climate control?
I've noticed that warm air blows through while driving, but switching it to re-circ normally fixes it for me.
