Hey guys,

Just realized I don't seem to have a fold down rear seat in my 2014 Genesis 2.0t rspec. Am I missing something here or are they suppose to come with in? I looked at the manual which didn't indicate if specific trims has fold down seats. I have no knob in my trunk and no pull out strap on the middle of he seats. Kinda of sucks as it limits the practicality of this car.

There should be a pull strap in middle of seat , probably just need to dig it out

Well I didn't say it was impractical but without the rear seats folding down it does limit it more so than if it could do, we not agree on that? I get that I bought a coupe I'm just wondering why my seats can't fold down. I don't have the knob in the rear and there's no cut out section in the trunk... weird.

Not practical? I have hauled 10 bags of mulch with room left over. My 'cello fits in either the front seat or in the back plus other musical instruments. Picked my mom and dad up at the airport and mom fit in the back seat just fine and all of their luggage fit in the trunk. This car is practically an SUV!! Try that with a Miata >:D

I got in my trunk once too.... Its a long story.... But ya the seats fold down but with mine i need to pull the lever and push the back of the seats through the trunk with like a broom stick or something at the same time to get them to release lolz

If there isnt a hole just make one....... But really.... Assuming you bought the car preowned. Maybe the previous owner had;

a. A bulletproof plate installed cuz gangsta

B. Built a custom rear sub speaker box and installed some stupid board covered in twead cuz "rollin"

or c. They just forgot to add it from factory? I mean i have no clue is it even a genesis coupe? Just weird cuz it would be the very first time i heard about this.....

Man your not kidding, looks like Hyundai omitted your fold down reat seat. Own a 14 3.8 Ultimate and mine has the fold down seat and its pretty obvious looking in the trunk. If you removed the rear seat I wonder if theres just a plate or somthing over the hole or if the hole is just covered my the seat itself and you just didn't get a rear seat with the fold down option. If its the latter it probably wouldn't be to expensive or difficult to source a used rear seat with the fold down option along with the associated parts and swap it in. Hyundai really does some strange changes to their cars midstream production.

Yeah and people thought i was trolling. I'm as confused as anyone else here, i found out when i bought a lip and tried to put it through the trunk. Theres no cutout on the trunk liner but I haven't pulled it back to see (Its stuck on pretty hard). I'm pretty sure there would be an opening behind it. I will check it out when it gets warmer outside.

I assume you bought it used. Two things go the back seat. Reach behind the center back bottom cushion. There should be a pull string. Pull it to see if the seat goes down. As for the release the previous owner might have removed it for theft purposes.
I did buy it used, picked it up two weeks ago. Besides this I am loving the car. I tried your suggestion but didnt find a strap to pull... I have the weirdest luck

Pull back that trunk liner and see whats behind it.
I will, its just stuck on pretty hard right now and theres definitely no cut out in the liner. Just waiting for a free day and warmer weather so I can dig more into it.

My daughter started driving my car when she got her license. She is in her last year of college now. We just wrote our last tuition check two weeks ago! Here is what I noticed:

She got really bad gas mileage.
She would mention giving "turbo-tude" to any Prius she encountered.
Guys would flirt with her after she passed them.

No clue what was going on there...

I have a genesis as well. The back seats DO NOT fold down. Just like you I did not know this and I was looking for buttons and pull straps. I could not find anything in the manual either . Was pretty sure that they didn't fold down but I called the company just in case and they verified that it did not . There is a centerpiece that will open so you can put Long items in but that's about it . Trunk is a good size but if you need longer or larger things it's not going to happen . If I want to bring home a smaller tree if I can't lay down the front seat and fit it in there I have to find another way to get it home.
It's a very nice car but I don't like that the backseats don't fold down. That's really the only complaint I have about it .

Step 1) Look at the trunk lid of your car and make sure it says "Genesis Coupe".

Step 2) If your car just says "Genisis" and you have 4 doors, administer a self-inflicted noogie and calmly click on the "x" in the upper right hand corner of your computer moniter BECAUSE YOU'RE IN THE WRONG FORUM!

Genesis sedans have a ski pass-through; Genesis Coupes have a fold-down rear seat.
