I decided against in the end getting a winter beater. Mostly cause of justification reasons.

(being single + Genesis Coupe + winter beater + eventually get a sport bike = 3 vehicles + 1 person doesn't make sense)

Anyone find any winter / rim deals? I want to jump on it sooner then later.

I just got back from getting a quote from Kal-Tire, here is what it looks like:

4 17x6.5, 5x114.3, B67.1 Black Steel Wheel +40 325.20
4 215/55R17 Nordman 5 98T XL 779.36
4 Tire Collection Fee 21.72
4 Wheel Balance 96.00
4 *500* 413R 1.25" Rubber Valve System 13.88
TAX 160.70
_______
Total 1396.86

Still deciding whether or not I'll want to stud them.

Looking for opinions/suggestions. Does this look like a good deal? I'm certainly no expert.

Thanks!

Have used Blizzaks in the past. Not on the Genesis, but in my old FWD cars they have worked great. Those and Artic Claws are all I've used in the past.

Looking forward to using the Micheline's I picked up with half a season on them (came off a 350Z with full nizmo body kit - clearly shouldn't be winter driven). Only cost me $475, and $80 to mount/balance on OEM 18s.

Did a little more digging using a tire calculator....running with the above set up that i posted earlier the speed difference is at 3.43% too fast...so after playing around with size this is what i got as close to the stock 2.73%

Front: 215/55/17
Rear: 225/55/17
This brings the speed varience down to 1.65% too fast.

thoughts? should i stick with that the tire shop told me with 225/50/17 fronts and 225/55/17 rears or use the set up that has a better speed varence

I wouldn't worry to much about the speed variance. The rate of change will hardly be noticeable, if at all.

3.43% would = 103.4k when your speedometer reads 100kh

So at highway speeds you'll be travelling 3.4kh faster. OPP wouldn't even look at this. You have nothing to worry about in my opinion.

Need Winter Tires Anyone? Lost car last year =(

Hi, is anyone interested in a set of 4 Michelin X-Ices 225/50 17's + rims? I've used them for 3 seasons and only drove on the weekends. My Gen Coupe was totaled and written off last year so now they're just sitting here. It might be a long wait but I was waiting for the 2017 GC before considering my next car.

Let me know.

Thanks

Help! I'm trying to find winter tires for my 2011 Genesis. Ive only had the car for a couple of months and am dreading the coming snow. Can anyone recommend good winter tires from their experience driving a Genesis. This is my first sport car and can easily slide on dry pavement.
