Greetings Genesis Fans. I've recently started lurking this forum because I THINK I might be in the market for a new car and the Genesis really grabbed my attention when the concept first came around. I was hoping I could get some input on my decision so I know I'm not crazy.
First and foremost. I've had my STI for a little over 2 years. It's pretty well modded with a 20G and all the supporting mods. I love a lot of things about my car but at the same time theres a lot of things I don't like (or need). I'm a big modification enthusiast and to be 100% honest I like modding more than I've ever liked any kind of racing. I've never tracked my car nor do I street race.
The main things that my STI is just killing me with lately is gas mileage and ride quality. I drive 700+ miles a week and at $40 bucks a fill up every other day it's getting old and it's getting old fast. The ride quality is of course the pseudo rally suspension and the Subaru interior is an uncomfortable mess of mismatched colors. At the time I bought it I bought it for the power but as I get a bit older I get tired of getting my fillings rattled out on my daily drive.
I live in sunny California so AWD for me is kind of pointless as I've driven in the snow all of zero times. I've taken my car off roading several times but even that has become tedious and repetetive. It's fun but it takes such a toll on my car and that in turn will take a toll on my wallet. I'm excited at the prospect of owning a RWD car because it's a good compromise of the grip of AWD and none of the lameness that comes with FWD cars.
So my conundrum is that I own my STI. Bought and paid for but it is of course starting to age and rack up miles. I'm at 55k miles at the moment and I'm averaging around 2800 miles a month. The 2.0T Genesis has really caught my eye as an amazing platform to do what I love to do best and that is modify cars. My STI is currently at 301/313tq ( stock 220/220 heartbreaker dyno

) so I know I'd be stepping down pretty good in power (at first) but I think all the other amenities that the GC comes with will make up for that until I can catch it up in the power race.
So what would you do? Keep the STI? Do more work to it? or take a step in a whole different direction with the GC?
