Default CARB Exempt Intakes

Hey everyone, so im looking to getting an intake for my 2.0 but Im looking for one that is CARB legal/exempt since i live in california. From what ive found from research is that the AEM cai is carb exempt and maybe also the cp-e short ram as well. does anyone know other intakes that are carb exempt for the 2010 model and someone that can confirm that cp-e is carm exempt?

I think the K&N Typhoon is CARB exempt. Check their website. If you are worried about inspections just put the OEM intake back on once a year to pass. That is what I do here in PA.

Tough to do with some intercooler piping. My Depo kit will not clear the factory snorkel and possibly the airbox (didn't bother trying once the snorkel didn't fit).

I meant i like the design not the price. And it is looking like the only true CARB exempt intake is the AEM cai. Im thinking of going with k&n because i have found a good deal on it but i want a dryflow air filter. Would the AEM dry filter fir on the k&N intake?

I understand with the IC upgrade. No idea on the filters. You would have to measure and then go to the AEM website to see if one might fit. I replaced the foam filter on my intake with a K&N. I looked at AEM too. The K&N I bought is the only one which would fit and I still had to order an aluminum joiner and silicone coupler to get it all put together correctly.

Hey! Can you go into specifics on the parts you used? We have the same intake IIRC: NGM Defender?

Let me know what you can?

We live in California. One of the most crookest states in America. Throw that son of a beach on take it to LA and pay 160 for an illegal smog. Problem solved and you get whatever intake you want.

AEM, K&N CAI are both not legal in Cali to be used upon any highway, meaning only for race car use...

Has anyone been ticketed for this? I think I'm getting a bit lax since I haven't been bothered in a while. My gen coupe is bright red and not particularly well equipped for legal road use (lets start with no cats, no mufflers) but I haven't actually been stopped in the year that I've had it. My prior car was a G35 Sedan which also effectively had straight pipes, lowered, etc but one of the perks of having a sedan is that police don't really pay attention (also helps not having any coffee cans out back). Now before that I had a 1995 Nissan 300ZX with mods and I was getting stopped left and right, primarily for exhaust. I never had intake issues as they are hidden behind the bumper on the Z32's and the engine bay is very cramped so its hard to see anything. If they see a cone filter am I screwed? Putting the stock setup in place isn't so easy with FMIC piping. Even with my 300ZX I was never asked to open the hood.
