Auto to manual swap

So my buddy Kyle, my brother, and myself finally got started on the swap Saturday and accomplished a decent amount between two days....we ran into some speed bumps and minor detours but all is still well....currently I am waiting on some parts to come in hopefully tomorrow and it should all be complete fingers crossed lol....I have been taking pictures and will add them with more write ups when I can.....if you have any questions please ask I'm willing to help out.....once finished I have alot of shout outs to people and companies that helped make this happen!

Are you swapping out the A/T for the stock M/T? Why?? i do however aplaud you for doing this huge task.

Some wiring will be reused as far as the trans ecu i will prolly just take it out considering it is just seperately bracketed in there.....edit..I am waiting on a manual reservoir to come in tomorrow

Not many... Unless they've had to drive a craptastic 6MT GC for 50K miles

I've honestly pondered doing the manual to auto but would only do it if the ZF would work.

What is required for a new FS thread?

as much as ive heard about these bad trans. ive never had proble out of mine or have talked to any other gen owner that has had one. guess theres a 50/50 shot you get a good one.

I mean I'm a 2.0 and wanted a manual so the ZF wasn't really an option for me....but the loss of power than an auto gets is very frustrating compared to the manual

Loss of power is no big deal, you just need to factor that into your decisions. Just plan to make 400hp and you'll hit 300 whp where MT plan to make 350hp to get 300whp.

Without the ability to raise the redline though, it becomes much harder. GCKid hit 343whp in his AT though so it's not too bad.

my guess is if he's lucky he can get haltch and hopeully it won't be so AHH

or worst cas, AEM EMS, strip the car to bare bone, forget all the fun fitures, get a eternal dash, and there you go.

he'll pobably bee more track car then street car by the end of this

transmission doesn't speak to the BCM, why would it have to? Only A/T that speaks to the BCM is the ZF. He'll need an M/T ECU but that should be about it electronically. There will just be unused wire in his car. His gauges won't see a signal from the TCU telling him what gear he's in, I don't know if there is an error or base logic for no signal what gets displayed but it won't cause the rest of the engine to not work.

The 5-speed is about as bare bones as you can make a sportronic transmission.

And the BCM in my car sounds an alarm when I put it in reverse.. maybe not talking.. interacting..
