Oil catch can?

I'm debating whether or not I should get and oil catch can, I heard they are really important for turbo'd cars but i'm not sure if the genesis needs one.

basically i'm not sure if its worth buying or if its another waste of money like a turbo timer is, what do you guys think?

It's not 100% necessary but it will keep your turbo and intercooler oil free. Just pop your intake tubing off and see how much oil is inside it and sitting on the lip of the turbo... You don't have to go all out and get a $200 catch can, just wait for G&M to come out with there's or pick up a cheap one from ebay and rig it up.

^^I undid my intake lately, and I was shocked at how much oil was sitting there. The intake tube is already gunked up and I only have ~9000kms on it.

I got one from AGP Turbo along with a breather for less 200$.

Run, do not walk to the nearest oil catch can. This motor flows a TON of oil around the head.

Thats the same setup I have. Works like a charm and looks pretty slick under the hood too.

running agp too but was wondering how much oil r u guys getting? i ran i think about 400miles after installation and didnt get much oil from accumulator. Asked AGP and told me that i didnt really have to check the breather. just the accumulator. I just remembered reading this thread so was just wondering if any of u guys are checking breather too.

When I removed my Greddy fmic. I found a pool of oil chilling in one of the pieces of rubber that holds the the intercooler and tubing together.

Oil in motor good, Oil in turbo good, Oil in intake bad, Oil in Intercooler really bad.

I am going to run catch cans on each side I think, ordering them this weekend. This way it will be a little safer and shouldn't have to worry about the breather clogging or any oil getting to the intake.

Oil on the turbo is BAD, not good. Unless you're referring to the center section that's supposed to be lubed, which has nothing to do with a catch can... You don't want blades that spin at 100K RPM to get caked with oil.

Do you think it is worth it to run catch cans on both sides or just one and run a breather filter on the pcv valve?

IMO, any inexpensive product you can buy or make yourself that prolongs engine life and reduces the possibility of engine problems down the road is a wonderful investment.
