I'm going to try using a magnifying lens to read the info on the chips in the board & post what I see since most of the pics are still not to my satisfaction. I'm also going to look around work & see if I can find an old ECU that I can tear apart without worry to see how it is secured to the other side & what is on there.

I think the pics that you've posted are sufficient for the front side of the board. I'm just guessing that there is something on the otherside because people claim the engine control processor is a Siemens chip. I'm definitely no hardware expert though, so I don't even know if its possible to have chips on the other side of the board.

Just depends on how the PCB is laid out. If there are traces to the back side it could have chips on it too.

Well, I didn't see any traces going to the other side of the board. I thought that it would have come out easily after removing the torx screws, but it didn't budge. I've never taken one apart before & I'm scared of damaging it upon removal. I will take a closer look at it tonight, but if you look at the perimeter in this pic, I can't see any line continuing to the other side.

That chip in the center is deffinately the main processor it is to powerful to be anything else... It also has everything it needs built into it full canbus support and everything. My guess is everything else on the board is just memory or some kind of support chips clocks or anything to help transition the inputs into something that cpu can read. Also i see voltage control and a timing crystal and my money is that chip directly left of the center chip in the pic above is the memory control chip and the chips above adn below it are memory. Im a SE with some CE background so hardware isnt my 100% specialty but Ive seen anough embedded computers to be rather certain on what they are. But yea if someone could get a close enough look at each chip and jot down what it says on each one that be good.

It does look like there may be some sort of connector soldered onto the back side of that board. Just look at the bottom, and you can see the double rows of solder points.

Those are most likely pinout connections for the plugs on the ECU.

It looks to me to be a 2 or maybe 3 layer board but by the looks off it as far as chips go they are all on the front. but there is deffinately some leads ran around the back. And i thought we already knew the pinout so that shouldnt be a big deal. Luckly this kinda stuff isnt about hardware anymore its all about software... We just have to get the software decoded and then figure out how to write it back.

MrFred, if you send me what you have I can put it on our Google Code site. Sorry for being gone lately guys, been busy, plus A&M lost our football game this weekend so I had to drink the pain away .

Also, please keep the off topic chatter to a minimum, this thread is already getting big enough. I may ask a mod to go in and delete some of these silly posts.

Maybe put the link to the google code site in the 1st post so people see it. I just had to go looking through the old posts for it, much easier for new people who stumble on to find it.

Probably not too much to see yet. A script is really needed to convert indirect addressing to direct addressing in the disassem representation.

Did?!? Still much more to come for the Evo. Some stuff happening behind the scenes for the Gen Coupe, but nothing I have control over, so can't say anything at this time. How is that for a teaser!

Yea...it's really a jumbled mess right now.

And r u still working on the adaptation of the flex fuel sensor for the Evo? Cause that would be freaking nasty. Oh, and my input shaft bearing is on it's way out on my tranny .
