Maybe this is a retarded question, but I am teh n00berz. Why do some people run two catch cans? Is the first one not large enough to catch the stuff? Or do they have one for each intake hose? Does it depend on the catch can?

My can will be here next week. Anyone had the dealer say anything about the setup?

You answered your own question really. Some feel it's better to run two but on the 2.0T it's not really needed because the crank case vent doesn't really blow a lot of stuff out of it..

As long as it's hooked up correctly it can't cause any issues, you might not pass an emmisions inspection though depending on local requiremtents.

Oh, I should have stated that your contents of your catch can need to be disposed of correctly to a proper oil recycling facility, it's not environmentally safe in any way.

Is there a particular brand for catch can's you recommend, or are they all basically the same thing? I just had an Injen CAI installed on my 2.0T, and saw there was a little bit of oil, so I should be getting one soon.

AGP's 2 can setup is fantastic, as many here can attest to. Look like they belong under the hood too:

I am assuming you have to cap off the port to the intake manifold as that can have boost on it so just putting a catch can between those points would end poorly?

Nothing capped off at all on the driver side. PCV valve -> AGP Catch can -> Intake manifold.

I personally don't ever recommend putting boost to a catch can, but a few have argued that there is no real concern but they've never had their can explode and coat everything in engine gunk.
If you'd like to still use the engine manifold port then buy a one way check valve and put it between the intake manifold and the can to allow vacuum but no boost.

I am sure the AGP cans can probably handle the boost where the Ebay stuff can not.

LOL The AGP driver side can is bombproof. It is hooked up the way AGP suggests. No check valve required with that one..

I paid around $250 shipped IIRC for both cans. A very worthwhile purchase, especially as they look like they belong there..

The Ebay can is robust enough. There is failure in about anything if enough are made or there are other mitigation circumstances. 20 even 30 lbs should not be considered a problem for pressure. You could get plastic cans to hold that easy enough if you wanted to.

regardless if it hold boost or not. Seems easier/cheaper to just use a T and block off the one tube so you can run a single can.

No, they are entirely two different situations.

If you hook it up the way I did in my video you won't hurt your engine or require two cans.
To have a fail safe get an inline fuel filter and put it between the intake and the catch can.
I'm working on a "Plan B" catch can install for single cans that go to the intake manifold rather than the intake but its taking longer than expected since I don't have my car atm.
