Default Installing bov. Yes I searched.

I searched and searched and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I even used google and didn't find the answer so I'll ask it here. ( flame suit on). I can not find an exact how to on installing my new bov off the intake manifold, instead off the oem setup with ecu control. I remember seeing a picture a while back that had every thing shown on it but now I can't find it. Can someone help me out.

Pretty much the same process you'll find on any boosted car. Find a boost refernce and run it to the BOV... Why avoid the factory solenoid though? I ran the factory solenoid, and still do, for 40K miles without issue and 3 different BOVs (stock, forge ms, and synapse). Bypassing the solenoid just bypasses safety mechanisms built into the ECU.

Synapse even suggests running their BOV off the factory solenoid, I'd say they know best. Synapse isn't a spring based BOV so you should have no issues with it not reacting fast enough. I'm running one with my Evo 9 kit and it works flawless off the factory solenoid.

I would not run a Synapse off reference boost unless you are also recirculating it. VTA without the solenoid control would leave your car breathing unfiltered air in through the BOV at idle. (Synapse BOVs are "normally open")

(YASQ) Synapse BOV normally open?

With an HKS SSQV, I surged with the factory solenoid, as it did not provide enough vacuum to fully open the BOV, nor did it keep it open long enough

With the Tial BOV the factory solenoid works, but only with the black spring, and you will still get some surge, especially at part throttle shifts.

They just work better using a boost reference.

If the bov is open at idle, air will blow out of the BOV not get sucked in.

The IC pipes and intercooler are at positive pressure at idle because the turbo is spinning and pumping air, granted very little, but air does not get sucked into an open BOV even at idle.

Gotcha. Definitely don't want surge so losing any ecu safegaurds is a moot point since surge will kill the turbo pretty quickly.

I can feel a small bit of air coming out of mine at idle.

The pictures worked wonderful and I just ended up running it off the intake manifold just like in your pictures.

how is the synapse running with off the intake manifold? Last i saw people were having problems. Look at the bov source comparison thread in the 2010 2.0t section.
