Another poll/question thread
I've searched and searched, but haven't found anything to justify getting just the O2 housing vs the O2 housing and the downpipe on our 2.0's. I mean does the downpipe itself net any sort of gains? Or at least from a professional/experience stand point is it plausible? I would like to save money, but if it does net gains I can jusitfy getting both. Basically what nets more gains? O2 housing alone? or O2 Housing + downpipe? Does anyone have dyno's with both scenarios?

While at the same time, I can't remember the website for the product, I remember someone selling an upgraded o2 housing and it added about 5 or so whp, and also selling a downpipe netting about 15 or so WHP... But this was an OFF-ROAD application ONLY!!! Meaning you'll throw a Check Engine Light... Meaning it has no Cat's as well... From what I can tell of... Get a CP-E downpipe. It replaces the O2 AND downpipe... You can either get an off-road application (Throws a CEL I believe because it removes the CAT's) or you can get a hi-flow CAT instead which throws 0 (Yes sir you heard me right that's a big 0!!!) CEL's and nets some decent power aswell... my .02

You're better off buying O2/Downpipe/Test pipe (all in 1) setups instead of sticking with just an O2 or DP. If money is a concern, then just save up for a little bit, bro!

ahhah! I found it:
This is what I got from KPR's site... This is the dyno and link to Downpipe ![]() Full Image And heres the Dyno and link to the o2 housing and Downpipe ![]() Full Image Of course these will cause a cell... but it lets you see a difference between the two. This is just for comparison purpouses... so whatever company you go with (difference between o2 housing and downpipe in one pipe, or all separate pieces put together) Edited: WTF! it seams they net more power with just an downpipe than with both downpipe and o2

Woa woa woa... Give me a sec to edit my info!
Somethings up! It seems that I have my links mixed up... KPR is saying they net more hp and tq with just a downpipe... compared to a downpipe and o2 housing... wtf! EDIT: Okay links and pics are fixed

The only way ur safe with the CEL issue with no primary cat is by doing an o2 fouler. U can see it here on this website.

From what I've been told, the traditional o2 sensor Fouler fix doesnt work as our cars have an anti-fouler. The computer on our cars is supposedly "advanced" Instead of just requiring a lower o2 reading after the cat converter, it actually needs some sort of fluctuation of sorts simular to the first o2 sensor before the cat... SO: Our cars are not just looking for a different reading from the first o2 sensor, but also it's looking for fluctuations in those signals simular to the first o2 sensor... But I think I might actually be wrong lol... god I edit my posts waaaay to many times

1 is the loneliest number.... lol
I am in the o2 only school of thought. I think it is the WCC that is too restictive, I think the second cat is a high flow cat and won't make a difference and untill you start getting above 400whp I think 60mm (2.375") OEM pipe is fine. I would rather have a custom 60mmo2 pipe though as opposed to a 3". I wouldn't say it is better for everyone, but it is better for what I want. But we need to look at the sizing too. I assume the KPR like in a 3" o2 and DP which then bottlenek back to a 60mm catback? As far as the CEL goes... I have heard too many differnt things. I have heard the defouler works, but it depends on position of it but you only get one shot really with that. I ahve also herad there is a 2'd gen logic of 02's that lookd for phase change seen here. $4.50 DIY O2 Sensor MIL Eliminators I have also heard we have a 3rd gen logic and the phase change hack isn't even good enough to fool it. Nothing real concrete yet, theough ninja says his defoulers work with no cel as of yet.

Yes, you are right.
Currently, only CP-E and Exhaust Depot are making a DP that replaces 02 housing + Downpipe + 2ndary Cat. Some downpipes, like KPR, replace the 2nd cat but not the first. Make sure to read the fine text. MXP replaces them all separately, so you have to buy their 02 housing, dp and test pipe. Pretty lame if you ask me. Right now, CP-E is by far the best option, IMO.
