Interesting, my tib isn't that expensive for insurance. More than my old 95 Caravan was naturally, but not by much.

Then again, I am 31

i would like to add that dynojet reads rather high, so 191whp could be much lower on for example dyno dynamics.

I really don't understand how insurance companies come up with their rates. My old Supra Turbo (230hp, RWD, sports car) was cheaper to insure than an the RSX I have now...safety measures have increased since the Supra, and hell the car is a Civic Si Hatch, for god sakes! When I asked them about it, they said that sometimes it doesn't depend on the car, so in that case, are they saying that because I have been driving for a longer period of time, I am more of a risk to get in an accident? LAME! (ok, rant over)

Back on topic, I hope the Gen Coupe won't be too bad to insure, and that the cars are in fact underrated in terms of performance numbers just to keep insurance costs lower.

I wrote it up first page.

They based their insurance price with the stats and the customer type they want to have. Car value is also an other big factor.

So if the stats says your car model is stolen oftenly or if your ca rmodel is often mix in some accident...you pay for the others drivers of your car model.

so does that mean the gen coupe is going to be cheap to insure than a tib?

Oh I know, I read your previous post, I just mean that their logic is messed up (IMO). Why would a thief steal an RSX over a Supra Turbo? You would also assume that a Supra driver would tend to be more aggressive and would speed more and most likely get in more accidents than an RSX driver. Also the 2000 BMW I had before was also less expensive to insure than the RSX, granted it was a 4-door but still.

I would add...Supra are really more rare than the RSX. Only total of accident and $$$ at the end counts. I don't know if they use % of owner having accident. That would probably penalyse more rare cars. I'm not sure at 100%

Depending on what type of dyno the car was put on, will affect what kind of numbers it produces. Some dynos read much higher than others.

I think you guys have completely missed it. I think the dyno operator is trying to tell us that the car put down 176.67whp, and then with just a slight change he was able to get 191whp. I don't speak Korean, but that's what I would say, judging by how at the end of the video he fixes the image on the 176.67whp dyno, and not on the 191whp dyno. I can't figure what the change was, but there has to be a change. That is quite significant. You can't just gain 15whp doing nothing but running it again. Generally the first run will be the lower reading, then the second will be the highest (by maybe 2-3hp at most), and then it will gradually get lower and lower due to heat buildup and not having the 60/90mph wind you would have at the top of 2nd/3rd.

It could be that he simply took out the intake filter, but left the box. It could be that he added premium instead of regular. It could be that he added an exhaust or downpipe to it.

More than likely something simple, like a slight intake change or fuel change. The dyno reading shows the power to be the same on both runs up to about 4700RPM, then the power starts to go up from the lower reading run. He gained about 10whp between 5000RPM and 6000RPM, and then nearly nothing at 6300RPM... and then it moves up gradually to 15whp gain at 6700RPM.

The video has a shot under the hood, and I'm not that familiar with what is where, but it seems like the stock intake box is in place.

Lastly, Hyundai has stated that the peak power (210hp) is reached at 6000RPM for the 2.0turbo, and that my friends, is 176.67whp. Check the specs here:
Genesis Coupe Specifications

I rest my case. I would say it read 176.67whp stock, and 191whp with a simple mod (that we don't know about yet).

unfortunately the dynojet is the standard for motortrend, car driver and of course sport compact car..

Nissan has SUPER LOW FRICTION bearings or something in the GTR that cuts down on a few % of DT loss..

^ I believe SCC is completely gone. From what I've read on the Subaru forum.

Anyways... All this speculation. When we finally get our hands on one here in the states we'll see what they can do. It's not going to be the same as in korea due to a number of factors. So just hold your horses.

Rsx will have higher demand for there engine. A few towns over from me if you park an rsx at target it will last at most two hours before being stolen.

^Where do you live? I rarely hear of the entire car being stolen, unless there is a tow truck involved. It pretty difficult to steal with the immobilizer that renders the fuel pump useless. There are ways around it, but it usually involves a tow truck.

Obviously the motors are in demand, but the entire car is quite difficult to steal.

Maybe Target is right next to a tow truck facility....

That sucks though, even when I lived near Chicago I didn't see whole cars get lifted very often.

The more I look at it, the more I'm leaning towards the 2.0.

I don't like the way that graph doesn't have the hp and torque cross at 5252RPM, but other than that, the power is there. I'm sure it has to do with the scaling, and units being used.

Can you tell us where that graph came from? Do you know what other mods it had? Estimated cost of upgrades and tuning? What Engine Management System was used?
