191hp at the wheels and 212hp at the crank...that is only a 10% drivetrain loss, either Hyundai has built and engineered a nearly perfect drivetrain or this engine is putting out closer to 230hp.

I agree with you Brandon. Most of cars have between 13-20% loss trhtu the drivetrain. However, I'm referring to FWD car. Watch out for the 3.8L V6 ouch !
![]() Still good numbers for the 2.0T. My 3.3L V6 Toyota Solara (stock) made 185 whp rated at 225-230hp (before the SAE enginneer change their formula...now rated at 210 hp but still the same engine.) Bottom line 191 whp is decent and the "do-ability" to reach 200+ whp should be very easy at low cost. Turbo needs to breath..I guess straigth pipes would free some other horses. |

Keep in mind all dynos usually read different numbers. Some reporting higher numbers then some or lower etc...

If the 2.0T is this underrated, I sure hope that the V6 will be the same and that we're actually looking at something more like 330-340hp at the crank.
For the 2.0T, to hit that 200hp mark, I'm sure a good CAI will get you pretty damn close to half-way there. A catback should get you the other half-way. Just imagine what else you can do to that car to make it into an absolute screamer!

FWD is more efficient too... So this engine HAS to be underrated. Either that of this is a poorly setup dyno... I am sure as we start seeing more Dynos posted we will get a better, more accurate picture.

I'm wondering if they haven't underrated the car's performance across the board. I'm waiting to see if they give the wrong skidpad numbers too.
This is the first time in a while that I've seen a company screw up its car's 0-60 estimate by what will probably be a full second in the case of the V6 manual. ![]() |

Guys! Hyundai is low balling it. On the new autoblog they said that Hyundai released the V6 6 speed at 6.3 0-62 (0-100) That being sad, CAR mag said that they were getting times of 5.9 0-60. sooo, all thats happening is people whispering 0-60 in under 6 to one person, and in the end its comming out different. |

Well Hyundai certainly could be underrating the horsepower. Many questioned the Nissan GT-R’s horsepower and believe it too is underrated. Nissan advertises it at 480 horsepower. Car and Driver tested 5 Nissan GT-R’s (track and dyno) and posted the results in their October issue. The results… They estimate the horsepower is closer to 520. Guess its better to advertise slightly lower horsepower ratings than to be criticized for having less than advertised horsepower ratings.

Ya know I never thought of that. That's a good point. Doubt that insurance is really going to care once they see numbers in the 300s though. They're just going to tell us to bend over.

Insurance are only based on the stats and car value.
If your car brand/model is popular there is higher chance for thief (bigger market) also the odds are bigger for people to get accident with. And ust of the time...people driving sport car maybe lose some of their good judgement and have bigger chance to get in an accident. Bottom line stats drive the car insurance costs |

Very true. I just got into a 350Z coming out of an RSX Type-S. Insurance was considerably lower. Same insurance company, same age, ect... Reason being? Less kiddies drive a 350Z thus less accidents on that vehicles record, and less likely to get broken into. Only cause thieves typically target cars that will have systems in them. Not a whole lot of older guys put systems in their cars. And the 350Z is typically an older person buyer.

Not to mention replacement parts for the Tib are insane. Most of which come only from Korea. It was a tier 20 car for State Farm on a scale of 26 (I think it was 26). My Olds Cutlass Supreme was only a teir 6. Tibs are expensive as hell to repair in the event of an accident, that's why most of them end up being totaled.
