Default Best Short Ram Intake?

I'm looking for a SRI for my 3 week old 3.8L. Anyone have suggestions on where I should look?

I'm waiting for Cp-e's. They said it would be out in 1.5 months about 1.5 months ago so....

I just took out the stock airbox and slapped on a cone filter from Autozone as a temporary DIY SRI. works well enough

Currently, I'm just running the cone filter from Autozone.

I'll probably be stopping by a performance/fabrication shop down the street, to see how much they'd charge me to fab up a heat shield.

I have a cold air intake, works great.

I actually noticed pretty good power gains, I was really surprised. In fact, the intake yielded more power gains than my exhaust, go figure.

9 rwhp dyno proven gain here from mine.

Edwin, where did you source that bend and those clamps? Is that Autozone stuff?

I'd prefer that over the stock tube I'm using just because it's smooth inside.

I’ve been happy with my RRM. It has a K&N filter. The SRIs give the car a mean growl under the hood which I like.

I got it on amazon, the filter and couplers were the most expensive part. It is a 45 degree 4" plastic coupler for large hoses:

They were out of stock for a while but they're back now! You may have to cut it a bit if you want to run the long AEM filter like I did:

The coupler for the TB may need to be cut at a slight angle too, tho I never did that as you can see... LOL

well the car has been on the market for 2 years and there's very few options out there.

when will you have yours to market? I've been waiting but if it's not out this spring I think I'll be looking elsewhere too.

Hey Edwin, tried PM'ing you but I'm too new it says.


I am trying to put your intake setup together. I managed to track down the 4 inch coupler, and the reducer that bolts up to the throttle body. The thing that's getting me is, what is that extra piece that has the nipple for the pcv valve? Is that a stock piece, or did you fabricate something? Any help is greatly appreciated.

No, those nipples that you are looking for is a grommet kit that you can buy at autozone, it comes with various sizes and the drill to make the hole in the plastic pipe.

You will also need to get a new hose (longer) but those are easy to find and relatively inexpensive... Hope this helps!
