Exclamation R2C Intake (post install)

I just got the intake yesterday (shipping was extremely quick) and installed the same night, it took me about an hour and was super easy . The directions supplied by R2C were very thorough and and descriptive. The fitment turned out great imo, and there is definitely a noticeable sound difference from the cabin. Figured I would post this just in case anyone else wanted someones opinion before purchasing one so....here's how it turned out.

Bracket mounts in factory holes

New hose came with it.

Nice! Just received mine today and installed as well. Took about an hour and the directions were very clear and the fit is perfect.

That's the best airbox designed yet for the 3.8. By a bunch actually.

'Bout time!

thank you very much for the pics and reviews! It looks like the top of the air box is some type of insulator. Does it seal around the bottom of the hood? I know this question was asked in one of the threads so if someone could confirm this that would be great thanks!

By the looks of the 5th picture it appears that the existing intake "scoop," the one that sits behind the hood latch and funnels air into the OEM airbox, now simply butts up against the outer wall of the heat shield, blocking the incoming air from the outside.

If such is the case, would it not be more beneficial to either funnel the exterior air into the heatshield by cutting a hole on the side and joining the two components, or to completely remove the "scoop" and let outside air simply fill the engine compartment?

No problem,

Ya on mine it did, upon install you just have to move it around to the right angle so that it sits even.

From the angle on the 5th picture I know what you mean, but actually the stock "scoop" does mount onto the heat shield through a sleeve that enters it. So both components are joined and there's plenty of air flow

Yeah the "ram air" mounts to a stub in the side, you re-use the stock rubber gasket thing and it fits perfectly. Great design!

Installed mine today. It took about 2 hours only because my son likes to borrow my tools and not put them back!
The install was easier than I anticipated. Unlike the loud hissing/sucking sound the CAI made on my Speed3, this thing has a deeper sound, like the stock intake box on a major dose of steroids.....just alot more angry! And I like it!

Thanks guys! Thats good news. I was debating whether to wait for the CP-E one, but last I talked to them, which was two weeks ago, they're still in engineering phase with a guesstimate of like 2 months to production.

My install pics:

From Stock:

Parts out before install:

OEM Intake tube off, Throttle Body exposed:

OEM Intake Removed:

OEM Airbox Removed:

SRI Completed Install Pics:

Intake air temp (at the OEM sensor - I think that's in the intake manifold) was 6-7 degrees F above ambient air temp.

It looks, sounds, and performs great!

Hey - PM me if you want greater details on this.

I use an app called "Rev" for the iPhone. There's others for Android called "Torque" that I hear are very good too. On my OBDII port I have a PLX device that builds a Wifi network local to my car. I connect to that network and all the OBDII data is sent to my phone live with zero delay. Using the apps I can select almost anything I want to graph, make a virtual gauge out of, display, track, etc. I can also look at and clear engine codes (MIL/CEL lights), and do lots more.

Here's a few threads that may help out, too:

PLX WiFi KIWI with Dashcommand question

Rev for iPhone 4 ??

PLX Kiwi Wifi ODBII scanner + 32gig Ipod Touch

http://www.gencoupe.com/electrical-w...p-android.html

Hope that helps!
