3.8 Engine Noise

I'm just curious if anyone else notices that the engine runs loud under the hood on the 2013 3.8. It doesn't sound broken or anything, but it's a very fast noticble knocking sound.

I use premium gas (93) and have noticed it since owning the car, but I'm also sure I saw a video of a Genesis that had the same sound.

Direct injection setups tend to be a little noisier than conventional injection engines.

It's the GDI....nothign to worry about.

My 2011 Sonata does the same thing as it's GDI as well.

Google "GDI engines" for thorough explanation. GDI is a great way to increase fuel economy and horsepower, but there is a price that's paid for it....noisy engine is one of them.
