damn it's videos like these that make my decision even harder between turbo or 3.8...i wonder what the total price of mods they did and what numbers they were able to generate.

Or? I believe that was a 3.8 that was turbo-ed .

Is this the remote turbo setup?

yeah i know my cousin who has a g37 and a fully modified mr2 turbo keeps telling me to get the 2.0t coz it's easier to modify and get good numbers and he said that v6's in general don't have that pull like turbo cars do and if i wanted to turbo a v6 it would be crazy expensive (he's mostly basing it off of general v6 knowledge because he doesn't know too much about the gen) which is why i wanted to know more about this setup. the thing that confuses me more is that his mr2 isn't as fast as his lightly modified g37 and he still swears his mr2 is more enjoyable to drive

Wow. I was about to post this in our turbo thread. LOL We're still working a few bugs out, so we don't have any solid numbers yet. We'll be hopefully throwing it back on the dyno this week and we're still in discussion with some piggyback ecu companies to release this kit. We're currently tuning with AEM's FIC (which they sponsored). Since the turbo and all piping is after the cats, I don't see an emissions issue for you guys. Lucky for us, we don't undergo emissions checks here.

Clicky to our thread: 2010 V6 turbo Genesis Coupe - Track ed 6MT

We'll keep you updated as things move along. We have another video that I'll be editing. It's a quick passby from stop. Once everything's running well, we'll have many more videos. Hopefully, we'll be a sponsor of this forum before we release it. 2 emails and 3 months later...since no response.

Sounds good. I know people are following this car. The more vids and info, the better! The site is under new administration (New Owners Introduction Thread), so maybe fire off another email or PM.

noob question but on a set up like this can you use your existing aftermarket exhaust system? are you guys using forged internals?

No forged internals. Everything seems to be holding up well, stock.
No aftermarket exhaust system. Your system is most likely a catback. Our turbo piping replaces everything from the cat back. The turbo rests where your resonators would currently be.

if i understand correctly it's probably not wise then to invest in a catback exhaust because your system would replace that right? also i know you mentioned that this system will be street legal so does that mean you guys are going to get it c.a.r.b. approved? that would be great for us cali guys

The investment in a catback exhaust is truly up to you. How long do you think you'll have an exhaust system before you switch to a turbo system? If you think it's a while, you might go ahead and get an exhaust system. It's a personal decision. We would probably look into developing one, but the market appears saturated.

Since we don't have to get our emissions tested at all, I have no way of testing emissions. It is a goal of mine to make it carb legal for you guys. Are aftermarket exhausts required to be carb legal for you to run them? If so, then I will most definitely file for legalities. Since these are behind the catalytic converters, I couldn't see why this would pass with flying colors. But I want to try to keep costs low, so this would have to be considered in the selling price, depending on what our lovely government financially requires (ex: permits, etc...)

Keep us updated for sure, and with tax returns coming soon you guys might be able to get into a good position to sell many kits. I know I can claim my GC's sales tax in my return.

thanks for the quick reply. anyways cat-back exhausts are legal in California they just have to conform to specified noise levels...the only thing is i don't know how they will look at this considering it is a forced induction system. cali requires c.a.r.b. stickers for simple things like intakes so i'm guessing for something like this they will probably require something...i guess we can get by considering it's underneath the car and most cops don't look underneath and for smog checks they usually check through obd-II port so hopefully your pricing will outweigh the expenses of getting caught lols
