Hey Bill, I'm not sure what you prefer to see.

But if you do prefer to see the beach area, I recommend the following
1. Palos Verdes (Luxury California Oceanfront Resorts | Terranea Resort | Eco Resorts in Southern California) This particular area is just amazing. There is a nice trail/walkway for visitors and you can see the Hollywood sign and Santa Monica from there even though its 20+ miles away. [only an a clear day though, i mean, real clear lol]

2. Newport Beach / Laguna Beach area
- Hot girls, enough said.

3. Coronado
- Check out the bridge, and the beach area. If you are there, you should also go to children's pool in La Jolla. Bunch of seals, and other cool stuff. La Jolla is also one of the most expensive places to live in the nation.

The three locations I mentioned are within 120 miles. Which shouldn't be bad if you are planning to drive 2000 miles to get to California haha.

only if it didnt epicly rain here a few months back...
but since it did.. you cant experience angeles crest due to mudslides & uneven pavement & a bunch of other mumbo jumbo that closed off the roads there :\
oh well you still have the glendale canyon run & if you wanna drive a bit you can prob drive up to mt arrowhead & backdown from the 330 sure its a big drop(which if you do drop you'll most likely end up dead.. *knocking on wood now*) but still fun
or another place semi togue style down here is chevy chase in glendale / la canada flintridge area
