In terms of looks, it looks a little cleaner but ultimately, it feels cleaner, absolutely smooth. The car feels like its a car you would touch at a manufacturer auto show such as the Chicago Auto Show. Definitely worth the money and effort.
Since you referenced the Chicago Auto show, I have to ask. Are you in the Chicagoland area? And carnauba wax is awesome, I just hate taking the crap off. You go through detailing towels like crazy because if you don't, the oil still remains on there. You should try substituting for Meguire's glaze before apply non-carnauba wax. It saves you a lot of time.

You are better off leaving your car dirty during the winter months than letting the dealership touch your paint.

Do you think so? It's actually better to leave salt all over my car for 3 months? I don't go through machines at gas stations anymore. I have all sorts of chips on my previous GC from the machines and learned my lesson that time.

I live on the southwest side of Chicago by Harlem and I-55.
I've never gone through a gas station car wash for that reason alone (scratches and chips) with even my old '93 Lumina. I just did not trust it at all. Also, I tried getting my GC washed at the dealership a few days before Christmas and there was a 45 minute wait so I said "screw this, i'm out of here" and haven't been back since.

For winter car washes, I would still try to wash my car at an automatic car wash. The best thing to do is look for one that is touchless or brushless, strictly spray based.

P.S. I just got my GC fully clayed and waxed an hour ago. She looks beautiful. I took her out for a spin and almost all the drivers were staring at it. It gaving me the biggest smile you could imagine. lol Once I run out of my Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell carnauba wax, I'm going to try and find wax thats a little easier to remove and shinier cause I agree, this stuff's a bi*** to remove. lol

Speaking of smiles, I was filling up my tank and a lady told me she likes my new Tiburon.

It's weird that you smiled during your vicious murder of said lady.

I'm the only one who washes the car, no corner car washes or free dealer washes.
Those brushes and cloths they use do a number on the paint, ruin it.

When I was 16, I used to wash the car twice a week in the middle of winter as well at a self serve. The fun part was washing away the frozen soap, it took forever.

Maybe for a day or two, but I'll take the 78 degrees we had today.

Any day. Lived in Chicago all my life, I'm planning to move to Texas... one day. I just need my company to open up a position down there.

A friend of mine decided to move to Texas with a friend a few years back. After staying there for 3 months in the brutal heat, she told her friend "I'm moving back to chicago, this heat is unbearable. Are you coming with me or what?" Her friend said so. To each their own, I guess.

If you were talking about dirt, then yes, it is better to leave your car alone than take it to a dealer to get washed. For salt, I would spray it off at a touchless car wash during the winter months.

IMHO, you are asking for scratches/swirl-marks if you take it into the dealer to get washed.

I think it has a lot to do with where in Texas you are too. Places like Houston are crazy humid. Austin is usually dry heat. I don't mind dry heat at all, but humidity will piss me off.

Thanks for the info. I like the machines because they get the undercarriage as well, but they keep beating my car every time.
