I think the rattle is caused by something (wire/cable or hose) that runs inside the C pillar. If you remove the interior plastic C pillar cover, right up near the edge of the headliner you can see the backside of a little clip pressed through from the inside of the pillar. I think whatever that clip is supposed to be holding is what makes the rattle, but I can't see or feel anything that comes out of the C pillar at the bottom which could be the culprit. Eventually I'll probably take the headliner off and try to find it, but with the neoprene in there I can only barely hear it when I concentrate on it so it hasn't been bothering me.
The clunk/crack sounds like a suspension thing to me, maybe a spring is shifting in it's perch and binding a little. It's pretty infrequent on my car so it's going to be a real bear to find and cure, but it doesn't bother me that much. |

I have found mine to creak also coming from the passenger rear quarter panel. Mainly heard just driving down the road as I hit bumps (more prevalent at low speed) but you can really hear it as that corner wheel comes off a raised curb (ie leaving a parking lot or driveway). The service tech at the dealer thought at first I was hearing the seatbelts hitting interior panels but I had already discounted that as the source by buckling all 3 unused belts while driving. It's best described as a popping sound and from the pics dogstar posted this looks like the most logical source. I haven't removed the back seat to get at it yet but will be doing something about it soon. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me! However I've found as it's becoming more humid the noise is becoming less frequent. Which only means as it gets cold again in the fall it will get worse. Hopefully Hyundai will acknowledge the issue and release a bulletin to the dealers on a fix.
Big thanks btw to dogstar! With your photos and this thread I was able to convince my service tech that I'm not crazy. |

My drivers seat was creaking all the time on bumpy roads. So I took it to the dealer and they are replacing the seat track. I hate them having my coupe. They had to order the track so it won't fixed until tomorrow. The better not be out joy ridding in my car!! I know the mileage.

More of a fluke really. While I was driving I was just trying to figure out what the hell was creaking so much by putting some light pressure on the plastic.
All I did was pinch (using the thumb and index finger) up and down the length of that squarish piece and then it stopped.

To the OP. This may be a different noise than what you are refering to but I had a popping coming from the rear when I turned the stereo up. Come to find out after poking around it was the rear deck cover piece smacking against the window and then against the rear deck. I removed the deck cover and stuffed the space between with acoustic foam to cut down on movement. It all but resolved the issue and also gave the OEM sub a more solid sound. |
