Before when it was too soft, adding a stainless steel clutch line made it perfect, but now it's back to too mushy and soft. I bought it to the dealer in the past and they said hyundai can't do anything about it if it's not slipping. They did bleed the clutch though, but i haven't bled it in I'd say about 10-15k so maybe I should soon.

How often are you guys bleeding your clutches/system?

A mushy and soft clutch pedal could be remedied with just a simple clutch bleeding procedure, but that's doubtful. I was having the same problems until finally my pedal stopped being spongy and just straight up hit the floor. No hydraulic pressure of any kind unless I pumped the pedal 10-15 times and then I was lucky to be able to get it in gear. Basically when I noticed it getting spongy it was because the Slave Cylinder had started to go out and gradually got worse. I had to have my Slave Cylinder replaced which was only like a $120 part however the transmission has to come out and that's where the labor hours and a transmission removal fee came into play. Total cost was around $750, I opted to have them replace the Master Cylinder as well.

What year is yours? And how many miles did you have on it before it went out?

I'm probably going to buy the valeo hd clutch which comes with the slave cylinder whenever I do the job. Hopefully not soon.

2011 3.8 Track. My mileage was right at around 64k when the Slave died for good.

I'm at 40k lol do the 13's have a more heavy duty slave cylinder as our clutch/flywheels are different?

My whole clutch could be in a lot better shape of i drove the car more properly I'd say.

Is this normal?

Apparently the Gen Coupe for all years only has one CMC. Part number 416052M100.

If you get a mushy pedal try pumping it 4 or more times. If things improve it needs bled.

If all else is good and you want to reposition the point of engagement get the adjustable clutch rod.

+1

Just be warned... everyone who has installed an adjustable clutch rod themselves have literally said it was the biggest PITA project they have ever done on a GC.

It can be. I found out it is easiest to first remove the lower dash trim panel.

Then disconnect the OEM clutch rod. Then in the engine compartment to clamp the master cylinder to clutch master cylinder supply hose shut and disconnect them the CMC.

Then twist the CMC from the engine compartment side towards the Brake Master Cylinder a 1/4 turn. The whole thing will come out of the firewall and the springy metal piping will flex enough for you to pull it out with the rod facing up. Then tie it to the BMC so you can get the clip out.

Pay close attention to the orientation of the clip for no hassle reinstall.

Then when reinserting the CMC into the firewall I started it at a 1/4 turn towards the fender (opposite of removal) and then turned it so it's square and oriented right.

i have another wierd noise...starting off in 1st gear, if i accelerate a little more briskly i will hear a rattling like the driveshaft is touching something or a marbles sound. Sounds like centre of car just below my ear. would a SMF flywheel cause these sounds?

Just found out as well that my rear differential pinion seal is leaking...dealer did an oil change 6 weeks ago on differential. shocked that they never noticed leaking differential splashing oil on exhaust.

now i am panicking...engine was replaced, and i am worried mechanic may have done something. rattling is killing me

A SMF generally sounds like a diesel engine rattling at an idle while in neutral or with the clutch disengaged from the flywheel. If you are getting a rattling sound when the clutch engages and the car is moving... it's definitely not the flywheel.

clutch issues

Clutch engages 1/2 off floor and there is slippage like the clutch is not fully engaging only 30k.. what could be the cause. ..

Is it constantly slipping or is it just under certain conditions?
Regardless, Bleeding would be the easiest route to remove potential issues - but depending on how you've driven the last 30k could drastically change things.
My Comp Clutch Stage 2 is over 25K now, has towed 2,XXX lbs across nearly 3K mile roadtrip with a trailer behind it. Pulled it all apart and the wear is so minimal I only know the clutch is used because of a small buildup of dust.

I'd definitely take it back apart (or have it taken to the shop you had it installed at) and redo the process (plus check the condition of clutch). My clutch engages half way off the floor as well, nothing drivetrain changed except trans mount, grips hard and goes. Only spinning is the snow tires on bare pavement

Bleeding will have nothing to do with slipping. Slipping is a clearance issue or clutch disc compound and pressure plate clamping force. Maybe it's worn out?

Mine started slipping when I boosted the power. it was easy to notice at around 3k rpm when you floored it as the rpms would rise faster than the car would move.

Mine's slipping like crazy lately under WOT. I feel like I'm driving a high hp Supra with an auto. lol. I've been tuned since May or so.

I have a full BK2 setup I got used with 8k miles on it, just need to bring it to the machine shop next week to have it resurfaced for $50, then hopefully installed next week as well.
