Default Hyrdrolocked motor!

So three weeks ago I was driving down the road and it was raining, I hit a huge puddle of water and there she went. I have a AEM cold air intake and it sucked water straight into my motor and threw a rod straight through the block! Lucky enough insurance paid for it and I'm getting a brand new 2012 2.0T motor installed and will be done on thursday!! Basically a brand new car for me!!!

They don't make a bypass with a big enough diameter to match the piping.

Bypasses do not work on turbocharged cars.

I did not know that. Never owned a turbo car. Still sucks for the OP but at least his stealership is looking out for him.

No it does not. The intake speed of the air causes the bypass valve to collapse 9 times out of 10 causing an enormous restriction. Rendering it completely useless.

My experience? 8 years of SRT4 ownership.

its being completely replaced by his insurance. If he had asked a question, then the pic would be inappropriate but all he posted was a story about how he blew his motor awhile ago and its now being replaced

i think his post was perfectly appropriate. dont get a cold air intake then fly threw puddles either get a sri which makes maybe 1whp LESS THEN CAI and just be careful. glad INS in replacing it but still your fault

but still.. it's a well understood fact when buying a CAI, not the intakes fault.

This isn't a "why not to buy a cAI" it's a "why not to drive sports car through large puddle of water" short ram, CAI, veloaty stack (no filter). I've taken detours before taking different, higher, towns to avoid the potential risk of this happening.

Jesus, no wonder our insurance rates keep going up. People keep buying those stupid CAIs and sucking water into their engines. TIP: IF YOU HAVE A CAI - DONT DRIVE IN THE RAIN. Better tip: DONT BUY STUPID CAIs.
