Here's a pic showing that the flywheels do indeed come with different tack weld weights, whether they're adding them because of the flywheel itself (more than likely they'd just drill out excess material rather than add) or is it because of variations of end to end on whole assembly balancing? The crank has a guide pin on it as well, the flywheel can only be bolted on one way and according to my service advisor, my VIN was required for them to order my flywheel when it was replaced under warranty.

If anyone else has a pic of their flywheels weights, post em up.
It doesn't make sense that they have to make a flywheel for a specific VIN.
I think the VIN is required for warranty purposes. So next time you go to the stealership they know what you purchased for your car.

Going back to topic I believe that the idea of developing a kit for a DMF is dangerous. It has to much S$%t that can go wrong and each one of these parts were engineered for the stock TQ/HP levels. Making stronger parts will not make it safer.

I vote for a SMF even though it will chatter like a mofo. We can develop a kit that it is rebuildable, flywheel and pressure plate.

Here is a pic of what I'm talking about I know is carbon carbon but you get the idea of the flywheel and pressure plate.....Clutch Kit

I'm going with RCP, i don't trust hyundai lol.

plus if i keep thiis car it's to build 500-700whp.
i doubt anything will withstand that.

Also most people that have the knowhow and will to rebuild a flywheel themself are also aiming big #'s.

BMW has this option cause the stock flywheel on a m3 is good for 70-90% over stock, SO THOSE REBUILT MUST HOLD CRAZY POWER.

Side note, i'm freaking getting pissed that BRZ is getting so much freaking attention

The BRZ gets so much attention because their company actually cares about their car keeping it's image as a modifiable street car.
Hyundai doesn't give a crap.

...and that is why Toyota kept blaming drivers when their car's throttle kept sticking and causing their cars to drive into walls. Yes I do know that a BRZ is a Subaru... but in the case of the BRZ/FRS... same car, same potential problems/resolutions.

Really, beyond making a buck, how is it that you think that any car company really cares about the people that buy their cars as long as they keep coming back and buying more? If you think that Subaru gives two craps about their customers more than any other company, you should either buy a Subaru and live the dream or wake up and smell the coffee.

Dominio and Cris let's keep this on topic. Don't need to turn it into a boohoo thread about aftermarket support. Thanks.

Well if you guys think a rebuild DMF is a bad idea then I'll just keep looking for someone to make a proper one.

We have two options, use a DMF with an unsprung clutch which will cancel vibrations from the engine, put less vertical load on the input shaft and have next to no noise or use a SMF with a sprung clutch, deal with the noise and have less vibration isolation and all that entails.

I'm doing as much research as I can on this stuff and trying to find the best solution.

As for the VIN requirement, we didn't need my VIN to order the transmission, the clutch and pressure plate or the drive shaft, all of which was ordered before the flywheel was and was warranty approved prior to a supply list being generated.

I'd say a new DMF would be more beneficial, I wonder if LUK has a higher quality BMW flywheel that would bolt right up?

I'm worried that that once you improve 1 weak point on the flywheel assembly, you'll expose another weak point.

Just wondering, why is our trans. so vibrationy? I mean DMF haven't been around forever... whats with all this chatter?

Also, kinda disappointed that only 4 people have donated after everyone say they'd be willing to help. Come on guys little help from everyone goes a long way.

Who knows, if this succeeds, Maybe Hyundai will implement it, or if your at the need for a fourth trans replacement, you could wheel and deal into the dealer paying for this upgrade VS you lemon lawing the car.

question, but couldn't you have a heavy smf that matchs a dmf weight, balanced and bam done... no chatter or vibration.

By nature the SMF will chatter/vibrate. Heavier will just make it super easy to not stall, also great if you're planning to start rock crawling.

Thanks Bubba_J for the donation

Remember guys there is a link on the first post to who's been donating, I do my utmost to update it as quickly as possible so those who've contributed get the recognition they deserve.

I'm still waiting on the shipping quote so no news there unfortunately. Earliest it'll ship is probably next week, I still have to build the crate for it.
