Yes, tonight I'm going to look at the procedure for the lemon law.

I wouldn't mind a little sticky, especially when it's new but it's alot more than sticky when you have to force it into gear. It's ridiculous.

I've read this and many other threads on the MT and sometimes wonder where all the problems are coming from. I've had my 3.8 MT for almost a year now, and sure it's a bit notchy when cold (and I live in the frozen north) but not bad.

If you are having to force it in the gear I wonder about your shifting technique.. Are you manhandling the shift knob? You shouldn't be white knuckling it. Your hand should be holding it loose enough that the stick can travel through it's own natural path instead of being forced in a straight line by you. Some manual trannies are pickier about this than others (old Ferraris were brutal). And it doesn't slow down your shifting, just a different feel to it. The GC manual seems a bit picky about it, just a thought.

And also valid points before about your trannies not even having been properly broken in yet.

Understandably so. I'd wonder about it to if I was reading this.

All I can tell you is that I've been driving MT's for 48 years and have never had trouble with one until this. My driving has been in cars, trucks...18 wheelers and pick ups, jeeps, and motorcycles so I think I know how to shift.

The breakin's I've experienced on other new transmissions is sometimes notchy, but honestly, none of them has ever been as bad as this one.

Well I hope you eventually work things out, kentrg. We all have bad luck sometimes and it seems that you're having a nice bout of it. Anyway, I've driven my GC in pretty cold temps and I have never had any issues with my transmission. Then again, I use aftermarket lubricants for everything, so maybe I would have one otherwise?

Is there a clutch delay device in our master cylinders? i had thought i found the answer earlier but it was for the tibby. By removing the valve should help with the clutch disengaging faster and possibly helping the grinding issue., I know the 2.0T have a concentric slave cyl. and hyundai may have put a delay device in there. but the tibby have a valve in the master cyl.

This is partially true (built in Germany, quality transmission) for the ZF automatic used in the 3.8.

Hmmmm maybe its just Canadians that have good to alright transmissions. Mine doesnt grind and is fine as long as I don't try to put it into first while rolling / not stopped for about 3 seconds.

So far a person from BC, Calgary, and Montreal have supported this... But who knows!

Some Redline MT-90 and clutch bleed should do something.

I have a pretty good MT as well IMO.. I have the same issue where if I'm moving it does NOT want to go into first gear. But 99% of the manual transmissions out there shouldn't be put into first gear unless you're at a complete stop.

My trans. was definitely a lot stiffer when new now, at 18,000KM I have no issues with it.

I just got a call from the dealer...the technician drove my car this morning, admitted/duplicated problem....bled the clutch fluid...drove again and the tech said he didn't think that fixed anything. So...new transmission on the way.

flywheel would not have anything to do with it, unless it was warped so badly that is would not let the clutch to fully disengage.

I'm wondering if I am having some of the same issues here, but I don't know for sure since I don't have much mechanical knowledge.

I just got my car less than a week ago, a blue 2.0T M/T. I noticed today after pulling into my driveway and putting the car into neutral for a moment that there was a slight noise coming from somewhere, so I asked my dad to listen to it for me. He asked me to put the clutch in and out a few times and every time the clutch was pushed down, it didn't make the noise, but let it loose and it kept making a notchy noise.

He said it sounded like the bearing for some part of the clutch was either going bad already, or was not greased properly.

Thoughts? Taking it to the dealer tomorrow after work.

Got a mechanic there with a 550HP turbo'd older style RX7 that he did himself. I'm guessing he probably knows his stuff, seemed very knowledgeable to me.

So just an update... Just got the tranny oil fluid change TSB out for Canada + clutch line bleeding that they did for free while at it...

Night and day difference.
I can now sail my gear like cutting into butter, even in cold.

island gen: Can you post the Canadian TSB #, and any other info that might help the rest of the Canadian Genesis owners. I can't get any info out of my dealer, or Hyundai Canada. Thanks in advance.
