Xclusive Tuning

Creating a new thread for this...I hope the mods are OK with me doing this!

I had a chat on FB with the Xclusive Tuning guy, and he let me know that they have a handheld solution based on Tactrix Openport 2.0.

It sounds like it's available NOW, but I could be wrong...hope he can chime in here with this.

Here's a few interesting details that I mention in another thread:
Basically, they need the OEM ECU tune so they can tune...but, with hardware in hand, I could download my current tune, flash my ECU back to stock (likely at the dealership), have them provide a custom tune remotely and flash that when I get it sent to me. The cool thing is, I could flash back to stock, flash my SFR tune back on, or the Xclusive Tuning tune at any time.

I checked that a few days back and I thought someone asked him about remote tuning and he said that wasn't a go yet....

OK, just got off the phone with the guy. He doesn't call it "Remote Tuning"...I think that implies that they're doing the work to your car via the internet while you wait.

Rather, it's e-tuning, for lack of better terms. If you have a Tactrix 2.0 cable and software, you pull your stock tune then e-mail it to them. They tune it and send you a file back in a day or 2 (or whatever). This is available now...which I think is pretty sweet.

If I was in the market for a tune, I'd go this route. As a matter of fact, I have an SFR canned tune, and I'm thinking about doing this because I could swap back and forth between the Xclusive tune Stage 1 and 2, SFR canned tune, and OEM stock pretty much any time I wanted to.

Also, he retunes it (or tweaks your tune) for the first 30 days for free.

If you wanted to compare your performance between these on a dyno, that would be pretty damn interesting.

One other thing I'll mention...and this is from my experience only, but I really appreciate that the guy is pretty easy to get in touch with and is willing to talk about what they do.

I don't intend to bash anyone else, but it really sucks when you buy something from someone and they don't respond, or communicate well (if at all).

I think they've tuned a bunch of Genesis Coupes already. I don't know if any of those were done remotely...but they appear to have experience tuning our cars, and this would be pretty good compared to our limited alternatives.

I read that as they're open to tuning more than 1 platform, like Evo's or Subarus.

From what I can see, tuning isn't rocket science...and if you have software to read the ECU files, you can tune if you know what you're doing. The guy I talked to on the phone was very clear about not wanting to take anyone else's files. Mine is tuned with SFR, and he said that he needed the stock Hyundai tune and didn't want me to send the "canned tune". That says a lot to me.

Our network consists of specific vehicle tuning expertise. Personally I provide advise and base files to our network for Mitsubishi and Subaru as that is my experience. My Lamborghini base files form from a Belgium Tuning shop that specializes in Lamborghini as they have a 2 vehicle race team and do tuning for a few teams across Europe. My base Ferrari flies form a company in Italy, KIA and Hyundai come from a UK company that also specializes in BMW, my McLaren files come another company from the UK. When we branched out mid summer last year for KIA and Hyundai the base file were already tested and all we needed to do was confirm the stage1 and stage2 files. As peak season approaches response time might be a bit longer but I will get back to you. If I do not get back to you in 24hrs please message me again. We were at one point but I went back to my old brand when this new network was offered. It give us at Xclusive a larger base to draw experience from.

It is different that is for sure. Took me a bit to get used to. It allowed us to branch out and start tuning Exotics. We get the base file an work with the engineer that developed it. There some differences from Europe to North America. The biggest advantage we can keep development cost down.
