DIY - Replacing the front wheel well liner

Here they are, and THANKS!!! STUPID PHOTBUCKET, lol.

Guess I've been the only one to crack one of these. It bothered me to no end for about 7 months and I had finally had enough (as well as got comfortable taking the car apart) so I decided to replace it. This is what it looked like.

This is the new wheel well liner.

Tools

Screws that needed to be removed

This one was missing already

These are the ones under the front bumper cover

Removed screws. You should have a total of 9 of the "push" type that are enclosed in the plastic spreader, the one nut-like one that comes from the screw rod at the top of the fender, the two screws that come from the side (in the fourth pic) and the one screw that actually holds the wheel well liner in and the front bumper cover on.

Once you've removed all the screws, gently pull the liner from the front, inwards towards the inside of the car and downward over the extended screw rod, then gently slide the rest of it out from the rear side of the wheel well. Cracked wheel well liner removed

Putting the new wheel well liner in you have to make sure it tucks behind the fender and that you line it up with the projecting screw rod in the top of the fender. As you can see from the pic, I didn't do this so I had to loosen and tuck; kinda like tucking your shirt in your pant, LOL!

While I had the wheel well liner out, I was going to clean my CAI filter, but the clamp screw was facing the other direction, so guess I'll have to wait to clean it when i take the bumper cover off again and once I do that, I'll turn the clamp around so I can access it from the wheel well liner instead of having to take the bumper cover off.

Finished "product"

Thanks for allowing me to do this!

Good job man.

As for replacing the Injen filter, you should be able to remove the headlight and have enough room to get your hand down there.

Different dealers charge different prices for parts. At my dealer the part retails for $75.00 but I got it for $53.00, but found it at one of my other online auto parts store for $35.00. Here's the link:

US Auto Parts - Catalogs - Coupe,year:2010),AND(universal:1))&Vi=4294958205+4 294962935+1637&y=2010&mk=Hyundai&md=Genesis Coupe

(I don't know why, but you'll have to cut and re-paste the link to get it to go to the right page)

They call it a splash guard, so check the net and see what you come up with!

bumboclotgcoupe,

Anyway to see the pics? It says they've either been deleted or removed. I myself have a similar situation with a cracked wheel well that I'm tired of looking at, its such an eye sore!

BTW guys i bought a cheap ebay knock off, bad idea. it needed to be cut up, drlled and then forced on the fit with no clearance problems. Buy hyundai OEM don't waste time trying to save $20 on knock off.

wheel well liner

Thanks for the write up. One observation: isn't the brake disk in the wrong side of the car?

If you notice when wheel rotates slots and drills will take dust down to the pads, not out, that's why they're not equal for each side.

What tool do you recommend for removing the nut-like one that comes from the screw rod at the top of the fender?

Can it be remove with a standard 1/2" socket and ratchet? or won't that be deep enough to pass through the screw rod? Perhaps I would need a long socket?

FWIW I put the liner on top of the bumper. This keeps it from folding back if the screw falls out of gets pulled out.
