So I like doing power slides on this on ramp and drift U turn around where I live. I don't usually go very fast so I never really go over the speed limit. Trouble is I also live next to a police station. And today I saw a cruiser right after I got on the freeway but he didn't notice me because he was chasing someone else. My question is what kind of ticket would I get and how much would it cost me? I'm in california.

Prolly reckless at the most...which carries a hefty penatly and fine and usually requires a court appearance.


Either way keep it up. Cars are meant to be driven. Just hope you never get caught..that's how I feel.

All depends on the mood the cop is in and any priors you may have while driving. He could give you 10 tickets and take your license if he wanted to.

It also depends on what part of town you're in, at least in Arkansas. I got a $180 ticket for 21 mph over on an empty freeway in the middle of nowhere. A friend of mine got a $300 ticket for going 10 mph over the limit in town.

Exactly no one is in harms way. I'm not going much faster than normal, I'm just intentionally loosing a bit of grip on a nice smooth asphalt. The only thing possibly in harms way is my wallet.

There's smooth asphalt in emeryville? really though I know the cops up there are sketchy and on edge because of Oakland so sometimes they take things pretty seriously that could be construed as simple fun to you.
To answer your original question though the only damage you're doing is causing your rear tires to fade prematurely and if you snap back the drift too hard so drivetrain components take a lashing.

i fish tailed once and a cop saw and pulled me over. It was wet and my TC was off. he gave me a "careless driving". it was a $70 fine and 2 points, OR $429 and no points.

In NJ the points come off after a year of clean driving or i can take a safe driving class for -3 points every 5 years i think.

I took the 2 points and if i had gotten another ticket i would have done the safe driving class. But i was clean for a year and now i have no points =)

I live in MD so the cop is pretty much going to write you a reckless and smack you with points and a fine. But in VA its reckless with a mandatory court appearance then your dealing with a judge!
