Default Where is the Mustang Vs. Gen Coupe Comparison?!?! I've been waiting, but nothing yet!

Anyone else have the same feelings?

The Gen Coupe put the G37 to shame:
"You simply get more car for your dollar with the Genesis coupe. Sure, it's not as much car as the 2009 Infiniti G37, but at two-thirds the cost, it doesn't have to be." Edmunds Inside Line
"If the pricing spread were closer—even by $5000—we might give the edge to the Infiniti. But if judged purely on mechanical traits and test numbers, the extra $10,000 on the price tag of the Infiniti doesn’t seem quite worth it." Popular Mechanics

In todays economy, nobody can argue that.

Now, I want to see what the Gen Coupe can do against a car in the same price bracket that is also a 2+2 RWD, over 300hp.

Hoping for a 3-way Pony Car comparison, but the Mustang will do for now... I'm not about the Camaro, no thanks.

The Mustang is stuck too far in the past to really be able to compete with the Genesis Coupe. It still uses a live rear axle, and needs the bulk of the V8 to be able to produce 300hp. Not only that, it is also missing a lot of the performance features needed, like the limited slip differential. When I go to their website and I see them listing things like "New Chrome Pony Badge", "Sequential Tail Lamps" and "Shaker Audio System" I just don't see it happening. However, it could be an interesting review based on price alone. The base model V6 starts at around $21k, which would be interesting to see how they fare around the track

315hp actually, they bumped it up with a few ideas from the Bullitt... and also running on regular to achieve that.

Muscle car vs Sports Coupe?

It's not stuck in the past it's made for a specific demographic imo (not ours)
It doesn't NEED a V8 to make 300 it's a torque motor.

In it's world of drag racing it kills the Gen coupe and will respond to mods better.
Around a track the Gen has the edge but that's not what the mustang is made for.

Why not ask him politely to follow you to the nearest drag strip and race him there?

Compair the Stang over th Gen? Idk man. You really can't.

If you were to compair, it would go as far as V6 vs V6. Using the V8 isnt fair imo.

Over looks and quility and feel. The Gen takes it home for the win.

But if we were to look at it in; shity interior, horrible visibility, loud compensating noise, and retro looks. Then the Mustand takes it home for the win.

ugh not the street race speeches....no offense to you...they just get old.

the obvious answer is because he wouldn't follow you. A. And B the track is undoubtedly a drive and not open that day or at that time anyway.

Now I support track racing. But Unless people are talking about street racing in crowded traffic or in residential areas...let um be.

A much more probable solution would be to ask if he wants to race then have him follow you a couple streets to a good location with no traffic and preferable warehouses.

I'm pretty sure it'll be more of a Gen Coupe vs. Camaro thing. I like the new design on the Mustang, but I don't see it being as popular as either the Camaro or Gen Coupe.

I dont care what the outcome in the magazine are i am still buying a gencoupe. The gencoupe imo is better looking by a far margin and lets not forget about how modern it is compared to the stang. A fully loaded stang is in the mid 30's without brembo brakes(i dont think its available period) so price wise the gen kills the stang. Matter of fact every fully loaded sports coupe with RWD, 300+ hp except for the camaro and gen is way over 30,000 with the manual tranny.

You do know the stang is one of the most popular cars in America right?

I personally can't stand the looks of the Camaro... It might grow on me, but right now, not at all.

As for street racing, there is cool and uncool.
Roaring through traffic like your hair is on fire is tardy and unacceptable.

If you are playing on an empty freeway or coming down a double wide onramp and you go from 10-70mph then shut er down, what's so bad about that?

As with everything, moderation is cool.

another option....like i said...I don't support street racing...I won't deny that i do it here and there...but I am never putting anyone but myself at risk when i do.

Besides that I can confidently say that speed limits are to slow in many areas. They are based on the worst car on the road being able to travel safely. But I know that myself and my car or bike can safely travel much faster.

Anyway...interesting story...speed limits are not absolute...if you can show you were not being unsafe the court will let you go.

I wholeheartedly agree with dogstar in regards to a right way and wrong way to have fun on public roads. Too many people think that driving maniacally all the time proves they are a good driver. It only proves they are stupid. "As with everything, moderation is cool." is perfectly stated.

Just remember though, that the police don't see it that way, and depending on where you live, they will straight up crush your shiny new genesis coupe...

I just don't wanna read about some member of the site killing themselves, other people, going to jail, getting their license revoked, car impounded, car crushed, etc...

X2. I learned by other people's foolishness that you should always be cautious on the street and behave correctly. I was a very stupid kid when young and had utter disregard for public road safety. My brother's best friend had to die in my brother's car for me to fully comprehend the dangers of reckless driving. I don't mind if it's in a closed or completely desolate street but when it's on public transited roads I believe it's just plain stupid. Tracks are fun too, I could debate they are even more fun than public roads since it takes a real driver to master a road course.

I had a '98 'Stang GT. Steeda/K&N intake, X-pipe and Bassini cat-back along with 3.73's in the back. 13.71 @ 102.79 for my best run ever. Stock versus stock, the 'Stang will just leave the Genesis coupe sitting still on the strip. However, I'm old (44) and not just buying a race car. So, for $28K and change? The GT w/ a manual and/or a Track is looking pretty good on the value chart. Load up a new Mustang GT with all the bells & whistles? $38K. Uh - excuse me? I can venture up to Kerbeck Chevy in oh-not-so-fashionable AC (Atlantic City, NJ for the non-Jersey crowd) and get a LT1 2009 'Vette for not much more than that. Nope - the Genesis Coupe hits a sweet spot for me in the "I want a sports/GT that is fun to drive, has most of the creature comforts and won't destroy my wallet" category. I could buy a 335i but truly don't want to spend that much friggin' money personally!

No, I know the Mustang is very, very popular. I live in Michigan. I see on in every 5 cars.

The Camaro will be the big car for this year, though. The new Camaro is much more exciting than the refreshed Mustang.
