not to be an ass, but search. There has been lots of threads dedicated to this subject. Look around and I'm sure you'll find all the info you need to form your own opinion on it. Everyone else has, lol
I'm 32 in May and I still can't decide which clothes to wear in the morning; your question is a little harder to tackle.
I'm also considering either a 2.0T or the V6. For me, I wouldn't mind the extra power and luxury niceties like push button start/stop, LSD, HIDs, mirror turn indicators, etc. I have all but ruled out the base 2.0T because for a "paltry" 3k more, I can get heated leather seats, sunroof and upgraded audio system.
In the end, I may regret not getting the Base V6 with things I want such as push button start/stop, "true" keyless entry and HIDs.
The 2.0T Premium w/leather, upgraded stereo and moonroof is $33k after taxes and levies while the base V6 is $39k. May be I can cut back on spending a few months and see where I am financially then and treat myself to the V6 base.
oh boy i start a thread like this about a month ago if its anything like the one i started its going to be a war in here lol but you will get some good info.
here is a couple of weays to help figure out which car is for you. you need to see what you want in one hand you have a 2.0 turbo thats cheaper and Imo is going to have more after market parts available soon than the 3.8 now the down side to that is you wont have a warranty any more if you dont care about that and plan to modd then get the 2.0
on the other hand you have a 3.8 v6 that is pretty fast for a stock coupe and can keep up with most of the other cars in its class so you dont have to modd it or you can put just exhuast intake and headers and have more power while still keeping your warranty.
Living in Canada, an LSD is a huge benefit for half of the year driving in snow, mirror signals and push button start are nice extras, but for me the improved power and fun of the V6 plus LSD make it a no brainer.
If you plan on modding the car, want to save a couple thousand and don't mind missing amenities or think you "need" huge power, then get the 2.0t
I guess we're polarized on that. I know sunroofs add weight but 99.9% of the time, this is going to be a cruiser. I probably won't track it but might take it to an organized track day once in a blue moon to see how my Gran Turismo/Forza skills translate to real world physics.
The increased power could be good and bad. Good in the sense that you have the power to backup that sporty look of the car; bad because you may be tempted to push it when the open roads tempts you.
300hp is more than I'll ever need. I just think I'll regret not spending the extras for HIDs, and other cool things that are only exclusives for the 3.8 V6. Gas is going to be a killer as well.

just care about the looks, want something sporty, but all out performance is not the big deal maker. Would prefer 30 Mpg
in love with turbocharged 4 bangers
plan to mod the hell out of the thing
yearning for a boosted RWD platform
30 MPG MAN!!!
3.8 - buy it is you fit one of these
Want all out performance out of the box without the need to mod the car.
love the noise that V6 makes
happy with simple bolt-ons putting you at around 300 WHP
looking for some mind bending headache work boosting an NA V6
Prefer the leather
want the track with an auto tranny
There are hundreds of other perspectives though. LIke was stated, this is probably a once a month thread around these parts I expect this one to get hoppy too soon
MY PERSONAL PLANS are to get the V6 Track. I will start with light mods and eventually boost the thing. The 2.0t is very tempting from a tuner perspective for me because it is looking like it will have awesome potential, but I just love the noise of a V6 sooo much more.
Oh, and if you want to search for shorter combinations, as long as you are looking for more than one word, surround it in quotes may help...
Again Canadian base is US GT and the Canadian GT is the US Track.
There is some little difference as Canadian version doesn't have brown leather nor the spoiler and there is 1 more diffrence I just forgot....very minor diff.
For canadien Buyer the best bang for the buck is the 3.8 GT
LSD (the most important thing)
HID
V6
Leather
Infiniti Sound system
WingLess YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
We dont need Brembo (im not gonna go on a track with a brand new car, but the Brembo look are nice)
19inch mag (usless i will change them)
Sportier Suspension (evryone is going to drop their Gen so usless)

The problem is, is that both are excellent choices. But one might be more excellent than the other, and that would be the base 3.8. It's on the lower end of the pricing scale, but it's probably the best value for money out of all of the trims because you get the go and a fair amount of the toys.
But honestly, if both are in your price range, drive both and figure out which you prefer. It's the only way you're not going to regret your purchase later if you're on the fence now (cognitive dissonance - not fun!)
Thank you all for wonderfully insightful and totally (un)biased opinions... It finally came down to 30MPG & room to mod vs. Best cost benefit per price... Dare I say it? I'm leaning towards v6 base since I dun know nuthin' about tuning.
BUT, I heard Hyundai's coming out with much upgraded versions in 2012, heard it might be best to lease then buy in 2012 when much better options appear. :dunno:
hey, I have nothing but respect for the Miata... Those things are so much fun to drive. So even if you DO drive it with your hello Kitty iBook in hand, at least it's an awesome car
hehe, I suppose my reference is a bit niche and dated... Back when the iBook looked like a hello kitty purse (1st gen) John C. Dvorak made the comment that no heterosexual male would be caught dead with one. Well this stirred the pot (John's specialty) and it turned into a whole "thing" He had a show on ZDTV and had an episode devoted to the topic. At one point one of the producers made a comment that he would not have any problem carrying the iBook, to which John replied,
"Well, you also drive around in a Miata..."
If you don't mind me asking, where did you hear this from? I'm not saying it's not true, but as a former Tib owner, I saw them go 6 years or a whole generation, without really upgrading the engine.
This is roughly based on the thing last night on the Think Tank site. It was mentioned that Hyundai was working on increasing performance. My understanding is that it was quite vague though, so who knows the specifics.
If your a newbie, do you generall have MONEY to purchase either or?
If I was buying a car and I had to choose between the two models, and I have the money to buy either or.. I would do personal research ... -_-"
On topic -
Do you PLAN on modding your CAR... E/I/H, etc...
Do you CARE if your warranty is voided?
There's a crap load of questions and answers!..
Use teh search button
If I was Kumakubo with all his money and with his connections with JunAutoMotive. Then maybe. But sense I'm El Stig from SoCal, the taste stays at RWD.
