Thumbs up Beyond Redline makes 344 WHP

Its late, and has been a long week. But after learning a few things, we finally got a tune in the genesis, and it has paid off. I will elaborate quite a bit, just have to rest for a few hours. Anyway tim should be posting a dyno graph shortly, but we ended up making 306whp at 16psi on 93 oct. Hopefully I will get some higher boost runs in tommorrow. This is a very rough tune, and very conservative, but i think i need to sleep a little before proceeding any further. This was done with the prototype Beyond Redline intercooler, intercooler piping ( what a difference), Stock catback (will elaborate on this later, but basically we have the 3" cat back jigged up currently and off site). And a turbo that could hold 16psi to redline

Cheers

Luke

Hey everyone,

As Luke mentioned, we have finally broke the 300WHP mark!!!

Earlier this week we took apart the stock turbocharger assembly and in the process completely destroyed most of our stock fasteners. We ordered new hardware but while our stock turbo was at the machine shop having everything drilled out and and re-tapped we decideded to see what we had on the shelf. After all we couldn't put development on hold for many of our new products. Low and behold we found a brand new GT3076 turbo! Although I can't really explain how we mounted it yet (prototype products and I don't want to say anything until we finalize design) lets just say once its done you will be as excited as we are. Another point to note, our prototype exhaust system is out being prepared for production, so this is through the stock cat-back exhaust system!

The following data was obtained by using a GT3076 turbocharger and external Tial 38MM waste gate. Additionally we are utilizing an AEM FIC for fuel/timing control and 600cc injectors.

I'll let Luke explain the finer points of things tomorrow, but we were just too excited to not share this tonight. Enjoy!!!

I'd like to say for how large a turbo you guys slapped on there, I'm not that impressed with that number @ 16psi...

I guess I need to wait for a more solid tune

I would say that it is very good. Imagine if we could rev this thing out past the stock cutoff point. The Hp line is still damn near 45 degs at this point. Plus completly stock Engine and Intake Manifold. Not to mention we have had this car exactly one week and one day in our possesion. And have only had 3 pulls with this turbo/tuning system on it.

Anyone else notice that torque curve is flat as Bonneville? Peak torque is available from 3700rpm to FUEL CUT! It's not even the peak torque number that is impressive but the way it hangs on! That's just unreal! That engine can be revved higher too so I'd imagine there is an extra 50whp lurking in there at around 7200rpm.

Tim, Luke....what are your thoughts?

Just got off the phone with Luke and we actually had the exact same thought! We figure once we can get rid of the rev limiter there is much more power to be had in the upper RPM range. We thought the only reason Hyundai had such a low rev limit is because the factory turbo couldn't support more rpm.

This thing will be awesome with a higher rev limit. I can't wait to see what we can do once we get our cams done and remove the rev limit. Next thing that worries me though is the PM rods.

Some more info about the pulls. We were using a Beyond Redline primary and secondary cat delete pipe and Beyond Redline down pipe, all 3", with the bone stock cat back. I can't wait to get our exhaust back on to do some more testing. Also the fuel pump, rails, and line is completely stock. The only thing we changed was the injectors. We also used the Beyond Redline Street core, that keeps the crash beam. Intake temps were approximately 30 degrees cooler than with the stock setup, and the longer the pull the more the temps dropped.

So far no CEL's even with no cats.

This build has been tough to accomplish this week, only because we are so busy with normal work, and also trying to get a car done for one lap that is less than one month away. Pretty much once 7pm rolled around I was able to start working on the car again and fabbing things up. It was a lot of work for one week, but I am excited as hell with the results.

ROFL....glad we agree! Sounds like you guys are making some serious progress on the car!

PS: What's a PM rod?

this is pretty sweet, seems like a good combo

getting a full 3" turbo back exhaust and removing the crimp should help spool and power significantly

but as it is full boost at 3400 rpm is badass

is boost controlled with just the wastegate, or a boost controller?

can we finally say that this setup is better than the v6 yet? i mean, the torque curve is better than the 3.8 already, with the crappy exhaust, and likely able to run more boost on pump gas

Just the waste gate for now. Hopefully have boost controller results tomorrow. We will see if the stock ecu will cooperate with 20+ psi
