Choices - 2t or 3.8

Went to a local dealer last night and took 2 coupes for test drives.

1 - 2T M/T base model
2 - 38 A/T

First impressions - WOW - what a car! Both of them!

Both seem to have lots of power, okay way more than lots! Prior cars - 3 Grand Prix's 2 @ 3.8l, one turbo 3.8.

Looking for opinions on 2 things
turbo vs. V6
and M/T vs Auto.

Primary use of this car will be to and from work - 30km one way. Not likely to mod much if at all.

Is the gas mileage significantly different in real life btwn I4 and V6?

Thoughts welcome.

AMAZING CAR!

You will find a lot of your answers if you search the forum, there have been countless threads comparing the 2 engines as well as the transmission choices. But to be honest, if you say that the 2.0T has tons of power, buy that one and save yourself $5000.

The 3.8 packs more "oumph" and the additional HP and torque is welcome for a car this size and weight IMO.

Treat yourself to a GT (Canadian version) and you'll have one of a heck of a car. Looks, 306 HP power, Brambo braking, decent fuel consumption (avg 10l/100km) all for 40k tax inc..... a no brainer as far as I concerned !!

Another fellow Ottawa citizen! Welcome!!!
Driving a manual during rush hours on Queensway is NO FUN.
On the other hand, spending extra $1,800 to get A/T on a sports car was a nuisance to me.
BTW, as world traveler suggested, if you decide to get v6, consider GT (Canada). It is an absolute bargain over the base 3.8 (the price difference of $2,000), imo.

If you will be upgrading your turbo @ some point, then go with 2.0T
if not go with 3.8. sSorry but 2.0T is slow as hell as is stock.
Yay Ottawa.
I used to live there for 6 year btw. Went to Algonquin and Carleton(forgot to spell it don't know if that's right) Univ. there. Miss chilling @ Rideau center and market place.
Such a nice place to live!

We picked up the 2.0t as it will be more modifiable than the v6. if you will be keeping your vehicle stock then get the v6, if you want to be able to get your engine to higher hps with mods., then get the 2.0t. I am hoping to get my 2.0t to about 390 to 410 hps soon with mods.

asking about gas milage explains a lot.
and saying the 2.0t is fast also explains a lot.

i think you already have your sights set on a turbocharged 4 cylinder.

the transmission would deppend on
how you drive.
how you like to drive.
and how your driven trips are.

I personaly love a manual because automatics bore me to sleep.

Im good at finding the right cars for people because thats what i do for a living :)
