Default Won ebay auction at 16K for 2.0t Genesis Coupe, Glenn Hyundai refusing to honor

resolved to everyone's mutual satisfaction.

Also, please stop any discussions regarding this matter, AND please stop any and all phone, calls, emails, communications, etc with Glenn Hyundai regarding this matter. Do not bother them here forward, in other words.

All the best,

Brandon
What is posted in the first post of the thread is all I am allowed to say. It's resolved, and we are both satisfied. If Glenn decides to announce more, it's up to them. But, the agreement we have is that I will only state what I've posted. I wish I could say more, but as hard is it is to do, I can't say more.

Jalopnik, is making assumptions. I haven't told them anything except for what is on the thread. People can derive what they wish, but what's on the thread is the truth, and all I can say

Everything has been finalized, successfully. You can quote me on that, and post that if you could. Or just edit my post and put that in after the first part.

Thanks,
McFly

Like was suggested in the BMW thread, have you contacted Ebay about this?

Glad to hear it. It's too bad that they can't/won't do much to help you out though. But at the very least having this issue on record at as many places as possible is a good thing.

If you really want to go public with this, you may want to even try approaching a newspaper in Lexington. In addition to the announcement you made to Autoblog, try sending something to Jalopnik as well.

Best of luck to you! I hope this gets resolved ASAP.

hmm...Mcfly I dont know how much you were willing to pay, acceptable mileage you were looking for and other stuff. But i Found a Used Base 2.0t for 19k.

Btw, I kind of skimmed through the story as I am reading it from my phone. Did you ever call Hyundai Corporate Consumer Affairs?

Wow, it's the BMW forum deja vu.

I wish you the best of luck man. If I could afford to do so, I would absolutely go after them 100% just on principle alone.

I would say in addition to everything you've done so far, if you haven't already, see if you can get in contact with the guy on the BMW forum who had the similar issue as you and ask him for any advice he can give you.

Oh, and one other thing. I skimmed over it because I'm at work, but if there are any personal remarks against the dealership posted, I would take them down. I believe that the BMW dealership in the similar case wanted to file a countersuit for slander.

I would actually start there myself too. Though Hyundai USA isn't responsible, their name will be brought up as an organization, and though bringing up 'my lawyer will contact you' won't get things done cause Hyundai USA knows they are off the hook, once 'media' is brought up things might get moving if it's one of their dealerships.

Working in a call center back in the day, 'lawyer' or 'media' automatically is a transfer of that call to the manager of the call center - not sure on consumer affairs.

Simply put if they refuse to do anything to help you out, 'before I bring my story to <local news paper> or <local tv station>, I wanted to let you guys know, I am very disappointed in what <said dealership> did, and Hyundai's support of their potential customer, and didn't want you to be surprised if this came across your desks in the near future.'

Makes you look like you were doing them a favor, and they didn't want to help you out, then hell will break lose.

I thought it was a few email from an internet sale rep that said "legally binding" in it. I had no clue it was a ebay ad. Take 'em to the cleaners! go get 'em!

Nice to see that you're back fighting the good fight McFly. Like someone else mentioned, I'll keep my fingers crossed that you win this one, if anything, for the principle alone!

Definitely contact the TV News station if you can. If they decide to air it, hopefully someone will record it and upload the story to youtube where it can get even more exposure.

I'd contact Hyundai Consumer Affairs, then the BBB. The news and newspaper should be a last resort because once you slander them they will be less likely to make a deal. Also you might want to get a lawyer friend to help you out because if they come at you first and your not prepared they might take you to the cleaners.

Get all over this and keep on it.

They are trying to screw you and you deserve to get the car for the price you won in auction. Without a reserve being placed, they don't have a leg to stand on IMO and I believe the law agrees with me although I'm no lawyer.

Contacting the media is an excellent suggestion and probably a lot more effective than saying that your "legal counsel will contact them" lol... basically, crib notes from the BMW thread and do what he done.

Luck!

Keep us updated, look at the ebay motors agreements... Aren't they required to sell you the car after you've won the auction? I'd call up ebay and find out... Good luck and keep us posted

It's not considered slander if it's the truth. That's the only real defense against it. I wonder if there is a department of the local news stations that caters to stories like this. There is a station in Atlanta that has a department that will ask the hard questions. Do some research and let us know.
