I'll try to keep this short...

Had a V-6 coupe... wife got hit by a lady that ran a red light. She had a plant buckeled in the passenger seat. 6 out of 8 airbags deployed... front of car basically gone... she's 100%ok... insurance said it's totalled.

Now... We both want another Genesis. Question is... do we stick with the V-6 or go for the 2.0T? She has to have an automatic though. Does the 2.0T come in automatic?'

Inputs?? :)

I would find a Hyundai dealer who has both models and compare them side to side. With an automatic and if no reason to modify it later down the road, you should find the choice an easy one since both cars have the same in options. Also look at this forum, there are many comparisons made already, just use the search engine. Good Luck and sorry about your car!

why not go for another 3.8? and yes the 2.0T comes auto, but it's not as good as the 3.8's auto transmission

and sorry to hear about the accident.. my brother just crashed my Gen Coupe a couple days ago :(

if the auto is a must, 3.8 is a must IMO.

+1, yes the 2.0T comes in automatic, but you can't get the automatic with either the R-Spec or Track packages, and it's only a 5-speed auto.

And just and FYI, the car only has 6 air bags not 8, Driver's side front, side, and side curtain, passenger's side front, side, and side curtain.

Glad to hear that you're wife is okay, I couldn't imagine what races through a person's mind right before something like that happens.

Y5SR1 (2.0T automatic) is not equal to the ZF. It's not a bad transmission, but definitely not as sporty as the ZF. MY wifes 2.0T auto, with a similar tune as my 6MT, makes about 30 less hp...

he's talking about serious modding not just a few bolt ons. If u need an auto get the 3.8

</div>i have a 3.8 gc auto......it has some mods and runs great....i don't see a issue of modding at all

Glad your wife is alright. My vote is for the 3.8 (track if you prefer the stiffer suspension). I highly recommend driving both. I've driven almost every spec of this car, and for the minor difference in price, the 3.8 Track is the way to go if you ask me.

Thanks for all the inputs guys. I guess i'm just a little outdated with my turbo experiences. I always made turbo cars kick NA cars in the dirt for next to nothing in mods. Guess there are some drawbacks I didn't think of since we need an auto.

We went test driving a few today. Actually drove around the big sedan also. That's a beautiful car for the price. She's up in the air about going sedan or staying coupe. She likes the 4 doors better. We'll see.

On another note... I thought the car did have 8 air bags? So all of them popped?? WOW! It definately was a bad accident. She's luck to basically have sore muscles right now and that's all. She's keeping up with the doc stuff for sure. If she had been hit on the driver's side... let's just not think about that.

Again, thanks for all your inputs and good wishes.
