:DAlright i said it the 3.8 litre vs the 4 banger turbo.....is it really worth the extra ten g's......If you take that extra ten g's and dump it into the 4 banger that car would absolutely destroy the six cylinder. The turbo kits already are avalible already through numerous companys from axp, to greddy, to hks...... so does the person really need the v6?? please hammer back some feedback people.....Also i am the owner of a beautiful four banger genny :)

Throw 10g inti the 6 cylinder. May be fair game than?

I highly recommend the underrated and nearly unknown 6-valve per cylinder two-cylinder option. For whatever reason, Hyundai just doesn't publicize it. But the potential of that little motor is so far beyond even the now-outdated 2.0T architecture, it just blows the mind.

Four-banger turbos are old news, get on the two-cylinder bandwagon - in fact, Ryhys Millen's next car will feature this motor, HKS said it was the best motor they had ever tested.

+1000

It also employs VVVVVVTTTTTLLLLLLL. Basically, every form of timing and adjustment that can be made, is, and automatically! Plus, this new 2 Cyl option reduces weight and makes you get 65MPG City!!!

Excerpt from the new 2.0T commercial from the girl from Minnesota.

"Hyundai has forever changed my life..."

"By driving a really hard bargain, I finally got the 4-banger ride of my life".

"She is really easy on the pump, and I don't need ethyl anymore."

Used 2.0T base model verus slightly over priced brand new 3.8 Track maybe? :dunno:

#13 ·
damn you v6 motor, why are you so slow without 10g in you????? lol

#14 ·
he's comparing like a 2.0T base to a 3.8 Track...of course

#17 ·
yeah MSRP of the base 2.0T is $22,000 while the MSRP of the base 3.8 is $25,000 only a $3,000 difference.

also a 2.0T Track MSRP is $26,750 where the 3.8 Track is $30,500 a difference of 3750 so i have NO idea where you're getting a $10,000 difference :dunno:

HAY GAIS! Which one do you think is better, a Honda Civic SI, or a Ferrari? Is it really worth the extra $185,000? If you put $185,000 in the Civic, you would straight up beat the sh!t out of a Ferrari.

What are your thoughts?

Why do people even post a reply if they think "threads" are bad, the reason they get bad, is from people like that dissing other threads, why even bother talking if i was host here i would ban ur asses.. I see this in pretty much every thread soimeone says" this thread sucks" or what ever why even read it or write in it, the person who starts these don't think anything is stupid, just trying to figure some answers.

Because if we don't the OP would continue to not search and waste everyone's time with questions that have already been asked.

Why do people even post a question if they didn't bother searching? If I were "host here i would ban ur ass" and the op's ass.

maybe if the OP sounded like the post was just finding more info on 2.0t vs. 3.8... but unfortunately the phrasing came off really... well...

legit answer time

yes and no, yes the V6 has more options, more torque, and better lower end response, yes it has an amazing auto tranny if you choose to go with an auto trans, yes it has more power and is very restricted so making more power with simple I/H/E/T is very simple.

The 2.0 theta is a great engine, it uses engineering from Chrysler and Mitsubishi to develop the engine, it's an absolutely terrific platform to work off of. Is it a V6? No it needs two more cylinders and god to bless it with a V shaped block.
Is it easy to make good power from both? Yes, both have their advantages, both have their disadvantages. It's all about what you want, do you have the bank roll to pay the extra money to get a better product? if not get the 2.0T

The V6 has not proven easy to get more power out of. With just my retune and intake I was making more torque and hp from 2500rpm to 5000rpm than most of the V6 dyno's, so no, they don't have more power down low unless you're talking stock vs stock. Beyond Redlines Stage 3 is making more torque and hp from 2500rpm to 6500 than a V6 as well. I'm not sure any of the V6's on here have broken 300whp yet, Slider will most likely pass that mark once he gets his tune, but it'll be close unless he gains better numbers than PA expects off their tune. Full bolt-ons and a tune will get you around 300whp but not garaunteed to be over. There are numerous kits out that will get you garaunteed 325+whp with a nice powerband on the 2.0T.

If you're shooting for 300-325whp it's a toss up, as after mods they are essentially the same price.

If you're shooting for 325whp-400whp and don't want to use nitrous or crack the engine open, get the 2.0T.

I you're shooting for 450+ and want a broad autox friendly powerband, get the V6. 450+ and don't mind a little turbo lag you can get the 2.0T there cheaper.

Obviously I was talking stock vs. stock.
But you make a lot of valid points, but keep in mind the internals in the Theta aren't bullet proof.

#38 ·
Correct, but we know at least 4 2.0Ts are running in the 320-375 range on stock internals without issue. Lovefab, ASpec, Tony20TGen, and MasterVu for sure. Superdrift is running something like 450whp with just a rod swap, meaning you can get 450whp pretty safely without even switching pistons. Which also means it could be a weekend swap without having to do any work to the cylinder walls...

Why compare stock for stock when the OP was asking about modding the 2.0T to equal or surpass the V6?

#39 ·
That's amazing numbers.
I'm surprised it cannot handle more though, I was expecting them to hit 400whp on a stock internal engine and 400+ after the rod swap.
But..it's really up in the air imo, they both have their benefits and both have AMAZING potential. There is no clear cut winner, and the options that the V6 provides are pretty cool, you need to go with the 2.0T track edition if you have a power craving, LSD is a must.
I believe the base doesn't come with an LSD but the track edition does correct?

Isn't stock to stoch with the V6 to v4 like 100 horse power? main question was is it worth the extra for the extra 100 hp? so far my experience with the 2.0t ,to make 100 hp is well over 5000 i would think.

Correct me if im wrong

2.0t = 210 hp
3.8 = 360??

extra 100+ hp prolly worth the extra 4-6 grand.

#52 · (Edited)
You don't get the big picture

the 2.0t makes 200-210 stock
the V6 makes 304bhp stock
BUT
The 2.0T makes more than 300(ish)whp is it had just a few modifications
an upgraded downpipe
an intake
an exhaust
Plus a tune..

For the V6
headers
exhaust
intake
and a tune would fetch you close to 300whp
^from what i've read, and have been told.

Those are easily achievable by spending nearly 3-4k for both cars

that's why I said there's no clear cut answer, they're both amazing platforms but you need to make up your mind on whether you want a 4 banger or a v6.

BTW, its an inline 4, not a V4
