The tranny doc states that the maximum torque allowed for the i4t 6spd manual transmission is 224.2 lb/ft (31kg). the V6 version max torque is 289 ft/lb (40kg), but this may be the clutch capacity instead of the tranny internals, as Ironmonk stated in the thread I pulled this from. I want, as much as anyone, for these numbers to be incorrect. But considering this comes out of training docs for Hyundai techs, I'd say it's pretty accurate. I guess we'll have to wait and see. 0-60 is 8.4?
that cant be!! A 2007 Ford Mustang V6 can do 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. Also, for comparison's sake, a 2007 Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo can do it 7.1 seconds. The Quickest Cars of 2007: Less Than $20,000 - Feature - Second Place: 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt SS and Pontiac G5 GT - Car And Driver |

yeah, I don't care how highly trained someone is, if it isn't officially released by Hyundai, it's not cannon IMHO...
Either these are honest numbers from teh company, and are severely underrated, or this is B.S. It just doesn't stack when you start crunching the numbers. |

Also, on the article posted in the original post.... I stopped reading when they proved that they don't know much at all about this car.
I seriously think that the community (us) know more about the coupe than most of the publications, because we pay attention to it in great detail, whilst it is just another memo on their desks. Another thing to remember is that this article was clearly about the Korean version, I do not think it will be marketed as the 380GT here in the states. The slower times could be because of transmission differences (if they are anywhere close to accurate on all of the 5 speed mumbo jumbo), different suspension setups, tires, etc... heck, it could be because the testing was done by some 80 year old Korean woman who considers an 8 second 0-60 to be way to fast... I shall wait until we have actually seen real specs from a real production model, posted by real people before I start jumping on whatever internet article there is that claims to have breaking news. |

those documents state the power at which the clutch life starts to decrease not the max capacity of the transmission itself. So at 250/289ft-tq your gonna need a new clutch soon after.
If the sedan does 0-60 in 5.5 and the 1/4 in 14.0 at 4000lbs I'm pretty sure the coupe will have no problem doing better than that. |

I am curious. If this is the extent of their technical training...
These documents are way to basic for anyone who would be working on the engine, as they would know most of this information already from their mechanics certification. It is way too technical for training documentation for anyone else would would be working with the car (management, sales, etc...) I am wondering if these are more preliminary documentation from a time ago. Training manuals for specific car models are typically much much thicker and comprehensive. These are more like a losely technical overview of the tech. Besides, I am pretty sure that any company would be severely pissed if one of their employees were to toss certainly copyrighted, proprietary documentation on a pre-production vehicle out on the net. I still find the documents, while fascinating and containing some very interesting info, to be suspect, and will not make any judgment calls based on a word doc that was downloaded from a file sharing site... Besides, as has been pointed out multiple times, the numbers listed just don't add up when you start to examine them. Not to discount whatever reputable source these came from, but the internet makes for easy douche-baggery... |

True but the coupe weights about 500lbs less to top off the sport suspension and the summer aport tires and the improved powerband all should compensate for the 65hp difference. And if you really wanna drop weight remove the spare tire kit and the back seat to drop a 100lbs and shave a .10th off your time
