Good question, however, you're best responses to gauge approx. insurance premiums will be from folks who live in your Home State, your town and those same folks who are or close to the same age and with similar driving history.
Insurance costs vary GREATLY, even for two individuals that have similar policies.
Geographic location - insurance costs are based on population density, statisical crime rates, urban vs suburban (and visa versa)
Age - some Companies will say this does not matter, but it does. With "age" comes driving experience.
Driving History - overall driving history abstract based on 1) your years of driving and 2) how many moving violations, DUI/DWI, death by auto, etc. are on your driving record. The abstract of your drivig history never goes away and many States participate in sharing this info more so today than in prior years due to the increasing use of computers and technology.
Married vs Single - again, some Companies will state this does not matter, however, most have the ideology that if "married', the individuals being insured are more mature and "settled down", thus being more responsible.
Deductibles - everyone choses different deductible limits - which affects the total Policy costs. For instance, if you select a higher deductible instead of the standard $500 Comp & $500 Collision, say $1k Comp & $1k Collision, your overall Policy rates will be LESS. Some folks don't like selecting higher Deductibles, because that is more money out of their pocket. However, IMO, if you are a Safe & Responsible driver, the chances of you having to put out of pocket will be slim to none. Ask yourself, in the X-amount of years you have been insured or driving, how many accidents have you had OR claims? If the answer is none or say 1-2, you would be saving yourself tons of money over time if you had claimed higher deductibles.
Kids - if there are young adults in the household and they have access to your vehicles, some Companies will see that as a "risk", therefore your Policy may be more than someone else who does not have kids, even w/ the same Policy limitations. This is why many Insurance Companies request or ask about other drivers within the household and if of age, their driver's license information. Mind you, the Company will not blatantly show the increase in cost, outline such risk costs on the policy or tell you that is figured into your premium, because it's more or less hidden within the total costs.
Insurance Discounts - (A) Some Companies will give multi-vehicle discounts if having more than one vehicle insured through them. (B) Some Companies will give discounts if having your home insured as well as your vehicles through them. (C) Air bags, anti-theft devices and tracking devices (such as LoJack) will also lower your total insurance premiums based on your home State's alowed discounts. Now, with discounts, every State will be different as far as what the minimum & maximum insurance discount is allowed - it varies State to State.
Prior Claims - If you have had ANY prior Insurance claims ranging anywhere from accidents, theft, theft of items from vehicle, mischief damages to vehicle, etc., these will affect your Policy Premiums as well.
Credit History - This is a big and upcoming thing now a days. Again, some Companies will deny the fact that they use this as a determination for your rates - but MANY do use this practice today.
Other Policy limitations - such as the medical portions, total Comp/Collision/Liability limits chosen, etc.
Now, for me, it's only costing me $2k per year for full coverage w/ GAP on both the 2011 Tucson and the 2011 Genesis... my Cobra is on a Collector Car Policy and I only pay $260 per year for that vehicle.
I definitely recommened calling at least 5-7 different Insurance Companies for getting quotes. Also when calling, if you have the exact VIN # of the vehicle you are seeking quotes on, your quote will be the most accurate. Be sure to use the same exact scenario for each quote when calling (meaning, the same limits you chose, deductibles, etc). Don't fall for Insurance Company "gimmicks" or their cute commericals claiming to be the cheapest - SHOP AROUND, ask many questions. Be sure that the vehicle is covered properly - meaning, if the vehicle is totaled due to theft or accident, exactly WHAT will you be getting in the form of payment or compensation? ALWAYS read the fine print too!!!
