I just purchased a 2.0T R-Spec. any word on how to turn the boost up or what it is safe to turn it up to? Also, have you found a way to stop that torque curve from dropping in it? Really looking forward to cranking some more power out of this thing.

Also I've only glanced at the 3.8 turbo/SC threads but I'm also assuming that this engine does not contain cast internals, so FI would be iffy if not downright dangerous? Just looking for input!
There has been no publicly available FI solution for the 3.8 so the question cant readily be answered.

This isnt a DSM, you cant just get a MBC or EBC and turn up the boost the ECU will kick the car into limp mode if you go over X amount. That amount on the older 2.0t's wasnt much above stock. Youre going to have to wait for a tuning solution.

It's killing me. I'm horsepower hungry with this thing. I appreciate the info though...you probably just stopped me from doing something stupid....oh and it's funny because the only other boosted ride I ever had was a '96 Eclipse GSX...LOL good call on that. Sorry for the bonehead question, I'm still learning about her.

You've got 6 month to a year before anything of relevance is actually available.

Yea im so anxious for parts to come out for the 13 2.0T that Im trying to find ways to do stuff myself. I guess we gotta be patient...just gives me more time to actually get the car looking the way I want it to on the exterior before I start messing with the motor too much....

I am willing to bet, that asking for 330ish from this new 2013 2.0 would not be out of the question.

I too am horsepower hungry, and NEED MOAR POWER, can't wait to see what comes out!!! I have sitting in my garage a 400WHP TT Nissan 350z, and I would ove to put a 400WHP Gen Coupe next to it (one day)

One thing I must say about the GC community is there is a wide range of experience here. My only other turbo'd car was an LS1 Trans Am.

Too bad theres no real tuning software out yet, even for the '10-'12.

2. more complete burn of fuel thats in the chamber
3. keep co and co2 numbers down.

DI is just a more efficient way of delivering fuel into the chamber, instead of when the fuel enters being dictated by when the intake valves open.
The problem with DI and carbon buildup on your valves is a big issue. Ford has shown in their DI motors that the problem can be mostly (if not fully) resolved through careful design and tuning, however the crux of the issue is that in direct injection, unlike in port fuel injection, fuel detergents are never, ever, in contact with the valve tops and stems, so they are never cleaned. The only way to have the intake manifold and valves cleaned in a direct injection motor is to either have the intake manifold removed and hand cleaned (which is pricey for a routine maintenance job) or regularly use a product like BG 44K (less, but also pricey to do on a regular basis). I did not do much research (I'm finding that there really isn't much out there for Hyundais anyways) but I really hope that on these DI versions of the Lambda motor they have taken the carbon build-up issue into account and designed/tuned accordingly.

Absolutely, although even a catch can will only slow the problem down, not solve it completely on a DI motor that is prone to carbon build-up.

Translation: For the '09-'11 2.0T owners, unless you are running over a Stage 2 tune, the 2013 2.0T stock power numbers make you sad.

2013 V6 people, wait for the 2013 2.0T Tune.......
Translation: For the '13 3.8 owners, when the '13 2.0T gets tuned, it very well could make more horsepower than your car.

Translation: My bad self has a '09-'11 2.0T with a Stage 3 tune. Unfortunately, I now have to be careful around '13 3.8s because they are as fast or potentially faster than I am. This makes me sad.

Hopefully that clears things up

thanks!

LOL... by that logic we should all be sad, as a 10 year old vette makes us all sad.

How is the dyno deceptive?? I agree, the numbers look the same up to about 5k. I can understand gearing may make it seem faster with the 3.8, but power wise they are the same to that point. This is going to get interesting quickly if Hyundai got smart and made the ECU more accessible with these new engines.

It looks like 4k-5k the 2.0 is all over the 3.8.
