I saw a turbo car online that when it was revved up and the blow off valve went off it looked like steam coming from the fenders. Is that just pressure from the BOV? Hey, like I said random question.


While i'm on here I may as well ask. What are the odds that there will be a kit for a working hood scoop. If they don't plan on making a kit, is there anyone out there that can at least give me an idea of how to make that happen. I have the 2.0t 2013. Obviously, there could be rust issues and water getting places it shouldn't. I know looking at an STI could help. But i'm sure there are better ideas than that.

I'm sure these questions were asked before, but maybe there is a fresh idea out there for the working hood scoop questions.

Possible, but not likely on most builds, how much boost will most cars build in neutral? A handful of psi? More likely is a nitrous purge. Otherwise the car is running pre turbo WMI. There's a separate thread on the hood vents, search hood+vent+nix.

I highly doubt that it was the bov.

could of been any number of things.

burning a clutch
steam coming off of exhaust wrap
oil on a hot part after doing an oil change
cleaned engine bay
open exhaust or exhaust leak

many other things

If you're talking about like from 2 Fast 2 Furious or whatever, it's a nitrous purge.

STis have a "working hood scoop" due to the TMIC. We don't have one, not to mention it would look terribad on a Gen.

Yeah it was a nitrous purge I wish it could be re created without having nitrous. I just saw the old thread with the top mount intercooler. I have a feeling it can be done easier i'm going to try to draw out an idea

lol no sir... my hks would blow what it looked like steam through the top left side of the hood when it would go off, not a cloud of steam visible from 1 mile away but it was there, especially on hot humid nights, like the ones we would have back home year round

You're really going to go through the trouble of mounting a bottle somewhere inside the car, mounting the solenoid somewhere in the engine bay, wiring up a button, etc. just so you can spray some C02 into the air?
