Default 2012 vs 2013

Ive had the 2.0t for almost a year now but i have a chance to trade it in and get the 2013 2.0t and I dont know what i want to do. Is the 2013 overall better and worth trading it in? Which car has better specs? And which car is worth it when it comes to mods

Figure out the financial difference to trade so soon, then add up the mods that dollar amount could buy......You need to make this decision yourself.

Exactly. Taking a bath on a less than one year old car would make no sense unless you have money to burn..

Test drive the 2013, see if you like it. There are close to no mods for the 2013's right now. I really want a new hood, but it doesn't really bother you after awhile. The 2013 genesis coupe looks amazing in the front from an angle.

Its not to much of a difference i kno the owner so its only going to be about $50 dollar a month increase and on my 2012 ive only added a cold air intake. Would that k&n intake fit on the 2013?

^^^do it, i had a brand new 2011 kia forte koup sx for just over a year and traded it in on this for $30 more a month. and no the k&n wont work but cpe is making a intake now as we speak. and i thought i read somewhere on the forum that all the cat-backs will work, but not turbo-back or down pipes.

$50 a month, but aren't you starting your loan over as well (ie. if you were 12 months into a 60 month loan, but now you're starting that 60 month loan over again with the new loan at $50 more a month)? even still $50 a month for 60 months is $3,000. That's quite a few mods....

I don't think financial it makes sense unless you just have the extra $$$ and HAVE to have the new model....

it's almost the same turbo as in the 2012 sonata 2.0T. it is a twin scroll turbo which is smoother and gives more power through all the power band. the sonata 2.0T turbo housing is reversed from our turbo so it will not work in our cars, but otherwise everything else is the same. they also made the 13 intercooler bigger to handle the increased horsepower. the pistons and rods are a little different also the factory clutch is beefier to handle the extra torque. you can bolt on cat back aftermarket exhausts, they will fit. but you can't do a cat delete yet,as the pipes won't fit. slowly everything else will catch up,and the ecu's will be cracked.

so then if you're 12 months into a loan, and paying $50 more a month, then if the original loan was $350 (made up, but not unreasonable, number) and they're both 60 month loans then you're talking:

$50*48 = $2,400
+
$400*12 = $4,800

Total: $7,200

To buy a new 2013, now that's A LOT of mods....

Well I think owners of earlier models should chime in that now own the 13? Is the 13's that much better?

Supposedly the 2012 K&N Intake fits on the 2013 with slight heat shield modification.

the 13 interior feels a bit "classier" than the 10. I can definitely notice the power difference between the two, also the 13's clutch is nicer.

Default 2012 vs 2013

I went from a base 2010 2.0t and got an amazing deal leased it at 200 a month with 1000 down, then when time came to trade it in I got the 2013 3.8. Idk how much of help ill be since I don't have the new 2.0t but I did test drive it and it feels a lot smoother, the interior is def an upgrade and the power to be honest didn't feel A LOT different than the 2010. Don't get me wrong I did feel a difference but IMHO not a 68hp difference. And also if you are in payments for a 2012 and want to change to the 2013 I would say its kind of a waste, just stick with it until another year or two one years. Yes you got the old body but I would just tough it out

The power band on the 13's 2.0T's is different than the older. The older model seemed to be setup with a shorter pedal and tuned for take off, with not much throttle you are at 4k rpms. The newer 13's seem to have a longer pedal travel and power through the rpm band. I have not tested the top end on the older models to compare.

2010's use a TD04H-13T, 2013's use a TD04HL4S-19T.

Upgrading the 2013's turbo is more costly because you have to buy a new exhaust manifold, where as you can reuse the stocker on the 2010's till 350+whp.

If you just want the power bump, 2013 turbo assemblies go on ebay for $350 and it's a direct bolt on. Remove the EWGA and bolt on a regular WGA, get a new exhaust and a 19T tune and you could have 2013 power for ~$2.2k.

2013 turbo from ebay (used): $350
WeirTech HFC turbo back: $735
PRW 19T tune: $850
new WGA: $150
=$2085 (will need some extra money for shipping ect.)
