Does your car have two screens from the factory? Mine only has the nav screen.

I'm including the blue LCD screen too. 2013 don't have it.

The 13s don't have the luxury of installing a tablet. At least not one that I have seen yet.

I wonder if JYcustoms is working on a bezel for the 13 owners. I would imagine they are since the first gen seems to be very popular and affordable.

Tried two different ones, rated for 4.6A and 4.8A and neither of them was able to charge the device faster than GPS+Streaming Music drains it. The Duracell unit works well, and isn't very big at all. I am going to continue testing it for the next few days, but it seems to be the best thing i've tried so far.

Weird.

I have a 2.1 installed. I got bluetooth, wifi, gps and dashcommand, with max brightness and during driving it never goes down a %.

I dont drive long to commute. Maybe 15 minutes a session and it's been a week and a half and my battery is still 100%

Anything higher than a 2.1amp are multi port. All ports share the total amps with a max usually at 2.1

Does your tablet have 4g/HSPA+ data built in? That could be a major difference between us in terms of battery life.

Try running google maps+ spotify+ bluetooth at the same time for a long trip, and see what it's like. I've already had the tablet die once using that Powergen charger, the iFlash one seemed a lot better but I only used it for a day before the Duracell one came in. I need something that will last all day long , constant use. I take long road trips frequently

You definitely have to get some sort of power adapter no matter what. If you decide to use bluetooth for audio, then you don't HAVE to use any type of audio cable, but i'd still recommend it.

@kepone: that's where ours differ then. I just have the standard wifi version no antenna that could drain my battery

@shaverzbt: I used to use that adapter. i found tho that it's very low quality and when using an aux cable to play music through the tablet you get very bad static while theyre both plugged in at the same time.

@skittle: yes you need an adapter still, how else is the tablet going to communicate to the car lol!

I have been keeping 4G data turned off, and only turning it on as needed. That has helped a bit with battery life.

Isn't the ground loop isolator supposed to remove any noise that comes from the power section?

i used 2 different isolators, one from radioshack and one from ebay. i also attemped to put ferrite cores on both the audio and power cables no go.

both didn't do a damn thing. then I troubleshooted with the source of the problem.

Relatively old comment but just wanted to add that if you do this, you could create a moisty/humid environment for the tablet - you don't want the possibility of condensation near your tablet. The only way your tablet will get to overheating temperatures is if there is direct sunlight hitting it. Even then I would assume that the tablet would auto-shutdown in this case - that's what my Acer Iconia does at least. So you shouldn't have to worry about it too much.
