Curious if anyone has details on either:

a) Map Upgrade via USB option that is under the Setup menu - when any upgrade is available?

b) Any third party hacks to update/upgrade the system

I haven't found any details online about how/where to get map upgrades for the system that came with my 3.8, but would be curious to do so. I read something in the regular Genesis forum implying that it might be August till one is released.

Secondly, it seems a bit strange they didn't include any kind of audio equalizer or even some fun audio visualization options that could display during playback. The CD playback screen is particularly bare. Wondered if it will be possible in the future to perhaps have third-party hacks to the system which might add some fun features to the system.

I am wondering the same thing... The nav in my mothers new Sonata is the same thing that is my GC, but she has more features like weather, sports, "Audio control" for settings like concert and so on... There has to be a way to get this... just got to try and find it...

I believe the map update via usb will be available later on in the year.

Any other news on an update? I understand from the owners site that the Genesis Sedan update was released in August.

it still baffles me why they have an AUX video in/out when there's no backup camera or DVD playback on the screen? damn you Hyundai...quit cheapin' out

not really cheaping out, more like porting the KDM version and nudering some of the features through software.

I wouldn't be surprised if the unit can see dvds, but isn't able to play movies off of them.

Try burning a bunch of mp3s onto a dvd and see if it will play them

I'd be interested to see what hacks can be performed as well. Particularly a backup camera AUX in but all those other features sound cool...

If Hyundai is using the Mobis MTS-1 unit in the GC, but in around November will be the start of unlocking the systems as the OS moves mainstream. Though it will be third parties that do it.

I think this unit is for the Entourage / Equus though.

IIRC someone on here has a nav that was spitting out error messages that seemed like MS errors. Might have a version of windows CE on there. Who knows.

I was looking at the Navigation in my mothers Sonata and the wire diagrams on HMA in regards to this... It is the exact same unit with but with back up camera. I think that the Hyundai backup camera will work with the Genesis... Wiring would be involved as well as the camera and backup module that is located in the dash. Once I can locate the backup camera module part number and camera part number I can really try this out... It just stinks because there isn't going to be any Sonatas in the junk yards to get wire connectors

the dealer HAS to update it. When you stick in the usb drive you have to enter a authorization code that the dealer has to get from the company that provides the maps.

2.) What is the version number of the new version? How do you find your current version?
3.) How much does it cost?

1) not sure
2) 3.07.06 is the new version. To find yours hit Setup, then System Info
3) Its a campaign, its free. Campaign (10-01-040)

wait, do you have a 2011 or 2010? The info I posted is for the 2011's. As far as I am aware there is no update for the 2010's

So are you talking about the "Map Version" - where I have 1.09.13? And the latest is 3.07.06?

That seems like a HUGE jump in software versions - I only bought my car this past summer!
